  • Quiet and scenic site with direct access to Forest of Dean footpaths
  • Puzzlewood, Clearwell Caves and Go Ape within a 15-minute drive
  • Dog exercise field and modern bathrooms; pubs a mile away
Fancy the chance to go walking in the woods without having to drive anywhere? Deanwood Caravan and Camping has direct access onto footpaths taking you into the Forest of Dean – so it really could hardly be easier to get out and explore this gorgeous Gloucestershire scenery. Getting out for a walk might take you along woodland trails in search of local birds and wild animals – or it might involve heading up to Yorkley village, a mile away, which a dog-friendly pub as well as a well-stocked village shop (a handy place to pick up picnic supplies or something to throw on your barbecue back at base). Dogs are very welcome on site too, and will have access to their own exercise field where they can have a good run around off lead. Other facilities include washing-up areas and access to a fridge, freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. Toilets and showers are housed in a modern heated block so there’s no need to worry about chilly toes… The Forest of Dean is a fairly compact area, so pretty much all of its attractions are within a 10/15-minute drive; there’s more to see and do over in the nearby Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Beauty as well. Three miles away, the town of Lydney has various leisure facilities including indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and is a handy source of shops, supermarkets and restaurants.

Foxglove Field powered grass tent site

Liked Very welcoming, friendly and helpful staff. Facilities such as toilets, shower block and kitchen were incredibly clean and the site provided helpful extras such as washing up liquids and female sanitary products in the women’s toilets and shower blocks which was very thoughtful. The site itself is very clean and we felt very safe there. Wonderful access to the forest and in walking distance from local pubs. Pizza van on Saturday night was a lovely extra.

Powered grass and gravel caravan site (premium)

Liked Everything, a great set up, the facilities were kept clean and the views were amazing. The owner and staff were all very pleasant and so were the other campers too. Great field for the dog to have a good run and a very friendly pub at the top if the lane, The Bailey Inn, well worth a visit.

Disliked Nothing really, would be being incredibly picky if I wrote anything tbh.

Beech Row powered grass caravan site

Liked Beautiful view from our pitch of the forest across the valley. There was direct access to walks through the forest from the site and, whilst on one of our walks, we saw some wild boar. The on-site staff worked hard to make sure the facilities were kept clean and tidy and there was plenty of hot water for showers and washing up. All in all it was a great site that we shall certainly return to.

Disliked The walk back up the hill from the lovely Miners Arms in Whitecroft was not for the faint of heart!
