  • Peak District touring pitches at a farm in the village of Wetton
  • Walk from site to Thor's Cave; Alton Towers 20 minutes' drive
  • A short walk from the village pub and tea room, plus walking trails
If the key components of your break in the Peak District National Park are a) easy access to walks, and b) easy access to a good post-walk pint, then you’ll probably be most pleased with the location of Yew Tree Farm Touring. This Derbyshire touring site is on the edge of the village of Wetton, opposite the village car park, which functions as the start point for several walking routes. That means that once you’ve parked your van, you can simply set out on foot to get to Thor’s Cave, meander along the Manifold Way or find various other ways to soak up some of the scenery. If you don’t mind a little bit of a drive, the likes of Dovedale and the Heights of Abraham can be on the schedule too. Wherever you end up (even if it’s Alton Towers, which is also nearby), you’ll be able to finish the day with a well-earned drink at the local pub, which is just a couple of minutes’ walk from the site. The village also has a tea room that’s open at weekends if a piece of cake and a cuppa is more your style. The site opens up its on-site refreshment trailer during summer weekends (from 10am to 5pm) to sell locally sourced Jersey ice cream, drinks and hot drinks. For dinner, you may want to bring along a barbecue and load it up with supplies from shops in Ashbourne (20 minutes’ drive) instead. Touring pitches are set up in a five-acre field, so there’s plenty of space for everyone to spread out and have a bit of peace. Chemical toilet disposal is available on site, and although there are no toilets on site, there are public loos in the car park next door.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Really close to lots of local walks, local pub was nice. Facilities well maintained. Little one loved all the farm animals around!

Disliked Big group of teenage kids on a trip of some sort slamming the toilet doors and forming a group after 10pm was an issue when travelling with a child. This was the only downside and understand not the campsite owners fault and also just bad timing.

Liked A good base for the adventures we had planned.

Disliked Not much to dislike. Just field with a portaloo, bin and a tap. Can't moan for the price.

Liked Such a lovely place to camp. Really quiet and peaceful, beautiful scenery and a really clean campsite. The little food cafe in the morning was really nice and had good prices. It's only 3/4 mile from Thors cave and other nice walks. Couldn't fault this site at all.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Lovely large field, well maintained and level pitches. There's a field of cows next door and they're very cute :) handful of other campers there and kids running round having a good time

On site there's a portaloo and a garbage bin, just outside the gate are more public toilets and a little shop that sells teas and coffees and I believe food/icecream. Pub is 2 minute walk away and is very quaint

I booked this last minute. Paid and set off and I'm glad I chose here. Just bare in mind this site is very back to basics and you get exactly what is described on the page, so take enough water with you :)

Liked How remote it was. Back to basics and plenty of walks and views a short distance away. Having a portaloo on the site was good. Level ground and very clean. The fact the car can be parked next to the tent is a great idea.

Disliked The toilets being locked so early in summer months.
