  • Peaceful dog-friendly Buckinghamshire site with woodlands nearby
  • A five-minute drive to Black Park Country Park for walking and fishing
  • Doggie daycare on site; pub and food shop within walking distance
Clock in for a relaxing time at Stokes Poges Campsite, a peaceful dog-friendly site in Buckinghamshire. With treetop courses and lakeside walks at Black Park Country Park five minutes’ drive away, this site is well-situated for some family (or friends) to spend some quality time, whether it’s visiting London’s sights (a 25-minute journey from the Gerrards Cross train station, five minutes’ drive away) or kayaking around the canals in the Colne Valley Regional Park, 15 minutes’ drive away. With grassy pitches and woodlands around the site, unwind with a gentle stroll as you please. Things are kept nicely straightforward on site with potable toilets, rubbish bins and running water where you can tend to any water bottles running low. Fancy bringing your dog along? Happily, dogs are allowed on site. And if you’re planning on visiting one of the local attractions where they can’t come along for the ride, there’s a doggie daycare on site (open Monday through to Friday) where you can leave them while you’re out. For an evening out, there’s a pub 10 minutes’ walk down the road. Handily, there’s also a food shop five minutes’ walk in the opposite direction where you can fill your pockets with snacks to munch on throughout the day.

Unpowered grass caravan site

Liked: Choice to camp in field or wood is great, and the ability to pitch wherever you want was fantastic. Great pub 5 mins walk around the corner.

Disliked: The woods (where we pitched) were rather shabby and full of discarded rubbish - which was a shame - really only needs a few hours for someone to tidy up. Toilets were awful - light wasn't working in either the mens or the womens. No toilet roll in the mens and my wife got trapped in the womens toilet because the door got stuck.

Unpowered grass caravan site

Liked: The quietness and access to what we needed to get to. Owners did come to check and were happy to be contacted if needed.

Disliked: Seems expensive for very minimal facilities, compared to one I previously booked last year which at least had full / clean toilets and a tidier field. (Same price) The bins don’t look like they’ve been emptied in a long time.

Unpowered grass caravan site

Liked: Very expensive for minimal facility - one toilet and wash basin. Couldn’t find water or chemical disposal and no information available. Also the gates were shut in the morning and I couldn’t reach the top barrier to open it. There was no notification that this would happen and I was unable to drive out until I got help. Not easy at 0539.

Disliked: Barriers shut without notice and I couldn’t leave until someone opened them No information about facilities - water, chemical disposal

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked: There is no check-out time and you can pitch up where you like. Clean toilet facilities. Not crowded, so you get a chance to camp away from others.

Disliked: The forest area is small with a few bits and pieces looking rather like junk.

Unpowered grass caravan site

Liked: There were no allotted pitches so you could pitch up where ever you liked. It was quiet and private. The facilities were functional and clean. There was no check out time.

Disliked: This is an unusual location. There is a field on one side of the track and a copse of young oak woodland on the other and you stay where you want. The woodland feels uncared for and there were old chairs, BBQ’s and bonfire piles that added to its sadness. We found a little spot in the back of the woods which was pleasant. It’s a shame, with a bit of love the woodland could be exceptional.
