Spacious camping field

  • Spacious pitches at a family-run farm in rural Bedfordshire
  • Grafham Water and St Neots 15 minutes' drive away
  • Well-stocked village shop and off licence on site; pub a mile away
Grab yourselves a break that covers two counties with a stay at Top End Farm, on the border of Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire just outside the village of Little Staughton. This family-run farm stretches over 11 acres, and pitches are spread across two fields that allow plenty of space for all guests to spread out and relax. There’s a play area to keep the kids busy, and a paid (but sometimes slow) wifi connection run by an external service. Facilities have been very well thought out here, particularly the two heated toilet/shower blocks (with large shower cubicles, hair dryers, shaver points and an accessible wet room) and the kitchen area, which has a food prep area, a freezer and two large sinks. Sorting food to prep is a doddle too, as the farm is home to the village shop and off licence, which stocks local veg and fresh bread along with plenty of other handy bits. For a more extensive stockup, there are supermarkets in St Neots, 15 minutes’ drive away. And if you don’t feel like cooking? The folk on site can provide you with details of various takeaways that will deliver to the site. and the village pub is a little over a mile away. The farm also has an information hut with all manner of local info on places to go and things to do – some favourite activities nearby include fishing, golf, horse riding and bike rides, or days out at the Shuttleworth Collection or Woburn Safari Park.

Liked: Everything. Two shower/toilet blocks, both a good standard, hot showers and clean. Good watching up area with 3 sinks and a freezer for ice packs. Local shop had more than expected and some. Security with friendly warden and coded gates. Cleanliness of the field, flat ground, perfectly kept grass. Our stay had a really good vibe.

Disliked: The shower to last a tad longer after button press, not really an issue. WiFi wasn’t the strongest at far end of the field but get off your phone and enjoy the outdoors!

Liked: We really enjoyed our stay this weekend! The campsite is huge, with great facilities including a little playground for the kids. The toilets, showers and washing up facilities are fantastic! Communication was really clear and we felt really safe on site. We only went offsite via car so can't comment on walking around the area but we're glad we were allowed to have our dog on site with us and walk around the campsite with her.

Disliked: The playground could do with an upgrade - not really suitable for younger kids but the slide in the shoe was well loved! The shop was a bit expensive but not surprising really with it being the only place to buy stuff within walking distance.

From the manager: Thank you for your review Were glad to see you enjoyed your stay We are looking into the playground next year, this year we have concentrated on spending money on the skateboard ramp being fixed and also installing a new wifi system for the site so we can offer better graded free wifi We try not to be expensive in the shop and try to get as much as we can price marked unfortunately we do not receive the same deals when purchasing as larger supermarkets, We do try and keep prices low as the shop is not just for our campsite but are the local village shop for many surrounding villages Hope to see you next year
