Camping het Wieskamp

As one might expect from a Holland-based hol, the Achterhoek is a smashingly bike-friendly area, and Camping het Wieskamp is a good starting point for pedal-powered adventures around the many cycling routes – and hikes – that crisscross the area into the adjacent forest. You can also spin over to Winterswijk town centre in less than 10 minutes; several more of the Achterhoek's historic towns, such as Bredevoort and Groenlo (both 10 kilometres away) and Bergh (30 kilometres away), are also easily accessible from Camping het Wieskamp via vélo or car. Shopping aficionados will find lots of good places around Winterswijk to spend some of the holiday kitty too, plus a bi-weekly market lauded as one of the best in the Netherlands. Elsewhere in town, there’s also an indoor go-karting track, gardens and a petting zoo, all of which should keep the kids muchly amused on days out around there.
