Camping de Vaubarlet

As we say, this is green green land, so if you have an outdoorsy passion, prepare to get stuck into it here. This isn't a hugely known part of the Haute-Loire so it's away from the busier tourist spots, and it has a good variety of landscapes in which to try a good variety of activities. You could canoe or kayak along the Loire river or in its gorges, fly fish in the gorges of the Dunière and Lignon rivers, or climb around one or more of the four mountain ranges spanning the Haute-Loire. Nearby Le Puy-en-Velay's main sight is the striped twelfth century Cathédrale Notre-Dame du Puy, reached by climbing 60 steps and one of the 78 structures on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list of the Routes of Santiago de Compostela in France. A meal in the town is also a must – did you ever wonder why puy lentils are so called...? Lyon is about an hour's drive away.
