The animals!!! We love being able to get involved in feeding time. Milking the goat was a huge treat!!
We all really enjoyed meeting Phil the bushcraft expert, he was wonderful with the kids teaching them to make fire.

Syntes om As a seasoned camper, I’ve stayed at countless sites over the years but Intake Farm is something else entirely. What David and Maria have created here goes far beyond simply opening their land to campers. It’s not just a campsite, it’s a sanctuary, part farm, part healing ground, and wholly unique.

From the moment you arrive, the warmth and creative nature of the hosts spills over in every detail. There’s an energy about the place that is hard to put into words, calming, restorative, and deeply uplifting. The farm tours, offered freely, are both fascinating and heartwarming. Meeting the animals was one of the highlights of my trip, they brought joy and a real sense of connection to nature.

What touched me most though was seeing the charitable spirit behind Intake Farm. David and Maria’s stories of how the site and its animals have helped children with neurodivergece or mental health afflictions really impacted on me, it adds another layer of meaning to being there. You’re not just camping, you’re contributing to something that makes a genuine difference.

I left Intake Farm feeling ten times better than when I arrived, lighter, happier, and refreshed in a way no ordinary campsite has ever managed. And as if that wasn’t enough, a short walk through enchanting woodland takes you to The Black Lion at Consall, a wonderfully situated pub on an old steam railway line beside the canal. It was the perfect cherry on top of an unforgettable stay.

If you’re looking for more than just a place to pitch a tent, if you want an experience that nourishes your soul as well as giving you a beautiful spot to relax, Intake Farm is beyond compare. I cannot recommend it highly enough. 11/10. Not to be passed up on.

Syntes om Such a perfect peaceful campsite. We stayed in the camping field which had composting toilets, showers, fresh water and a washing up sink. Quite level ground so easy to sleep. Only noise were owls and the odd moo or baa. Twice a day we helped feeding their farm animals. David and Maria have a wealth of knowledge to happily share.

Syntes om A very relaxed environment - we chose a pitch in the woodland area. There were fire pits and tripods available to rent as well as firewood available for sale. We had a spacious pitch perfect for our children to play safely without feeling like we were imposing on other campers. The hosts are very gracious, they have a small but useful on site farm shop for various supplies. They gave clear instructions to us on arrival. We had the option to be left to our own devices but they were more than happy to offer their advice when called upon. We chose to visit the barn one morning which I'd definitely recommend - our kids and adults had a great time meeting and feeding the animals and learning about day-to-day life on the farm.

Syntes om A charming little site, very secluded. The shower and toilet facilities were great, and hot running water was a bonus!

The family that run it are amazing and really good with kids, encouraging everyone to get involved with feeding the farm animals. Very friendly atmosphere indeed. My daughter keeps asking when we can go back!

Syntes om Lovely farm in a peaceful location. It was my first solo camping trip, and on arrival, I was told I would have the whole woodland area to myself, quite far from the main buildings and owners. This was exactly what I was looking for.

However, after returning from a walk, I found that two other campers had arrived and would also be staying in the woods. I generally don’t mind sharing space, but these two men were very loud, speaking foreign language, and as it got dark, I started to feel anxious and unsafe. The internet connection was unreliable, and I was unable to contact anyone for reassurance.

Throughout the night, the men were walking back and forth with torches until around 3 am, and I felt too scared to leave my tent, especially as the site was completely dark and the toilet area had no working lights. I did not sleep at all that night, and it completely ruined what was meant to be a peaceful first solo camping experience.

This site could be perfect for solo campers if you truly have the place to yourself or if the area is busy with other families or groups, but being alone in the forest with two drunk strangers was frightening for me. Sadly, it has put me off solo camping in the future, which is a shame, as the farm itself is lovely.

Syntes om Maira and David were excellent hosts and were very accommodating. It's a lovely little site, very basic but everything you need. The Black Lion Consoll is a short walk away and a beautiful spot.

Syntes om Everything! Excellent farm location, Maria and Dave were great and we learnt lots about farming, peaceful site with the option of field or woodland. Able to buy produce including eggs from the farm which were so good we bought 2 dozen to take home, also able to hire a tripod fire pit for the duration of our stay for £5. We will be back more than once I'm sure. Phone signal poor but for me that's a massive positive
