  • Peaceful, friendly motorhome site on a spacious Mallorca finca
  • A five-minute drive to Can Picafort; 45 minutes to Palma
  • Outdoor kitchen and dining room, plus access to a saltwater pool
Settle down among friends at Verein der Freunde Mallorcas – this rural motorhomes-only site is part of a finca run by the Association of Friends of Mallorca, and it makes a great place to park your vehicle for a break near the north coast of Mallorca. The site has been set up to be spacious, safe and secure, as well as welcoming to all travellers –the finca stretches out over about 15,000 m², and the pitching area is surrounded by a fence with an electric entrance gate. Inside, families and dogs are welcome, and there should be plenty of space to spread out on serviced pitches shaded by trees. A number of handy facilities are provided here, including a washing machine, an outdoor kitchen and a lovely outdoor dining area, as well as access to showers and toilets. Guests can also relax at a saltwater pool with sun loungers around its edges. The rural peace is a huge highlight of a stay here – but so too is the proximity of the seaside resort Can Picafort, which is about five minutes’ drive away. Up here there’s a splendid long sandy beach flanked by a promenade full of restaurants, bars and ice cream shops, and there are plenty of useful amenities too (including banks, shops, supermarkets and a Friday produce market). Easy access to Mallorca’s main roads means that you should find it fairly simple to get out to some of the island’s other top spots, whether you do a little tour of traditional towns like Sa Pobla and Sineu or cross to the southwestern corner for a day exploring the capital, Palma.

Local attractions

If you’d like to get a sense of traditional Mallorcan life, set off to nearby small towns like Sa Pobla (15 minutes’ drive), Sineu (20 minutes) and Porreres (40 minutes). Taking a step even further back in time, the Roman ruins of Pollentia (15 minutes) are also well worth a trip, to see the theatre and forum of the city that was once capital of the Balearic Islands. Those who are in search of natural landscapes instead may prefer to take hikes and go snorkelling in Mondragó Natural Park (an hour), explore the gorgeous Jardines d’Alfàbia (45 minutes) or cool off among the stalactites and stalagmites of Drach Caves (40 minutes). A day out in the capital, Palma (45 minutes) is a must, as well. The city’s cathedral, partly designed by Gaudí, is one of the island’s highlights, and there are also excellent museums like the Museu Fundació Juan March and Fundació Miró Mallorca, plus the chance to see the scenery at a relaxed pace from a ride on the Tren Sóller.
