Just take a look at the views from this smashing site: you’ll soon pick up on the fact that they all include mountains, waterways and lush green scenery as far as the eye can see… This spot is geared up for all sorts of outdoorsy and adrenaline-fuelled adventures: from here you can explore the lands of the national park on foot, by bike or in a 4x4, or investigate its waterways, cliffs and/or caves on a rafting, kayaking, canyoning, climbing or potholing expedition. For something a little more relaxing, forage for mushrooms in ancient woodlands to bring back to base for a barbecue, or go on guided tours around the area's historic villages, Romanesque churches and museums. Voraparc Camping is a jaw-droppingly scenic riverside site set at the gateway to the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park in Espot, Lleida. Leisure facilities at the site include a small outdoor pool with grassy space around it for sunbathing among the mountain views, a games room with a pool table, a small football pitch with goalposts and an outdoor play area for the littlies. Guests can also hire bikes if they fancy a two-wheeled tour of the local area, and fishing is available in the Escrita river, which runs right alongside the property. Foodwise, you’re well sorted with the snack bar, a pizzeria and a self-service restaurant, and you can self cater quite easily with stuff from the shop such as fresh bread and local produce. Among the amenities are an accessible toilet and shower block, a washing-up area and a launderette with washing machines and tumble dryers. Free wifi is available too.

Local attractions

Talk to the friendly team at reception who can organise outdoor adventure activities for you: perhaps whitewater rafting and kayaking between currents, paddling past enormous boulders, and taking in the Sant Maurici scenes from the waterways, or quad biking and horse riding across rocky terrain and bungee jumping from skyward heights. Excursions to various lakes of the national park are available too: explore Saint-Maurice, Ratera, Amitges and Lago Negro in a 4x4, and be sure to bring your hiking boots because some of these routes can be combined with adventures on foot to make even more of the area’s smashing scenery. Around seven kilometres from base, Saint-Maurice lake is a popular spot for swimming and fishing, and a little further afield in the opposite direction from Voraparc canoeing/kayaking, pedalo rides, archery and climbing are some of the pursuits available on and around La Torrassa lake.
