  • Family-friendly glamping site in a Limburg valley
  • A 10-minute drive from Valkenburg and Maastricht
  • Access to hikes and bike rides; short walk from shops and restaurants
If you’re scouting out the options for your next glamping getaway, Mooidal Boutique Park might just win that top spot. Set in the southernmost part of the Netherlands, Limburg, this small luxury park is a short drive from handfuls of stunning South Netherlands towns, villages, hikes and bicycle paths. Directly from the site, guests can stroll onto scenic walks with lots of lush greenery or rent a bicycle for a bike ride deeper into the Geuldal, a green valley with orchards, half-timbered houses and fields surrounding the river Geul. The site is also only a 20-minute walk from the centre of Meerssen, which has shops, restaurants and cafés galore. To the east, Mooidal Boutique Park is a 20-minute drive from the centre of Valkenburg, home to museums, castle ruins and marlstone caves with underground passageways. When Christmas strikes, this town is packed with festive celebrations (earning it the name 'Christmas Town' along locals). Head southwest to descend upon the city of Maastricht, 10 minutes' drive away too. Maastricht has medieval buildings, a cobbled old town, a Gothic church, an art museum and cafés and bars lining the river Maas. How splendid.

Local attractions

If you want to tick another two countries off your bucket list in one trip, the borders with Belgium and Germany are a short drive from Mooidal Boutique Park. At the fork between the three countries, Labyrinth Three Countries Point (half an hour’s drive) has lookout towers for an obligatory snap. It's also Europe’s highest maze, so there's that… In the same area, you could swing by the highest point in the Netherlands, Vaalserberg (35 minutes), or poke your head into the town of Vaals (25 minutes), which has a museum and a glassblower running popular demos. Don't want to travel too far? Eijsden (15 minutes) is an old village with typical Mosan Renaissance mansions along DiepStraat street and a castle with French gardens. Just below Maastricht, it can go into the same day's plan. Perhaps you like to rummage through some market stalls when you’re on holiday too. For that, Sittard (half an hour) has a historic market square (market day is Thursday). It also has an escape room centre and a nice variety of shops and cafés.
