  • Family-friendly Sicily site five minutes’ drive from the beach
  • Quarter of an hour's drive from the historic city centre of Noto
  • On-site playground, games room and bar
If seaside hols are the dream, then you’ll be sleeping easy at Oasi Park Falconara, a family-friendly site in Noto Marina, 10 minutes’ drive from the city of Noto in the Syracuse region of Sicily. Oasi Park is a prime spot for a beachy getaway – it’s less than five minutes from the Noto Marina beach, where you can stroll on the sand, lie out in the sun or take a dip in the Mediterranean. If beaches aren’t your thing, it's handy that the site is also well placed for city excursions. It’s 15 minutes' drive to the historic city centre of Noto, so go wander the streets and take in the stunning baroque architecture, or pay a visit to St Nicholas Cathedral, Palazzo Nicolaci or Ducezio Palace. You can head back to Oasi Park to unwind after your explorations – kick up your feet in the bar while the kids take the swings for a spin on the playground, then meet up later for a game of table tennis or table football in the games area. Once you’ve all worked up an appetite, fire up the barbecue and load it up with goodies from the supermarket 10 minutes away, then chow down back at your quiet pitch. If you’ve burned the ribs, never fear – there are tons of restaurants in Noto to rescue the charred remains of your evening.

Local attractions

There are few things more quintessentially Italian than the Vespa, so make one of your first stops Noto’s Sicilia in Vespa – leave Oasi Park Falconara behind as you zip around the island on the world-famous scooter, taking in stunning sea views and spectacular nature reserves or exploring the winding streets of Noto. To see the island from a different perspective, you can take to the ocean for a boat trip with Seecily Cruises, 30 minutes’ drive from the site, with various excursions bringing you to some of Sicily’s coastal gems. If you didn’t get to explore the nature reserves with Sicilia in Vespa, never fear – you haven’t missed out. Oasis of Vendicari and Cavagrande del Cassibile are each within 30 minutes of Oasi Park, so take a hike or a bike and dive right in. For a more urban experience, the city of Syracuse is half an hour’s drive from the site and there’s plenty there to keep you busy during a day trip (or two): Ortigia island, the Roman Ruins and Neapolis Archaeological Park are must-visits, and tipplers might like to add Azienda Agricola Pupillo winery to that list.
