It's free, quick and easy!
- Seaside site in a huge colourful garden
- Just 50 metres from the beach
- Pools, three bars, restaurant, free wifi, kids' club and hairdresser
You won't want to say goodbye. Sayonara Village in Calabria's Vibo Valentia province has all manner of factors you'll want to say hi to with some immediacy: it's only 50 metres from a gloriously sandy beach (and just look at that walk to it), has smashing facilities for all ages, and is set in a levelled 40,000m² garden blazing with brightly coloured flowers. Sounds blooming marvellous.
The site has handsome brick cabins branched out from the central building around the communal areas and pools – yes, that was a plural for pools – and has a local path to its very nearby beach.
And now for all those smashing facilities. Ready? There are rather a lot… including a restaurant, three bars (yes, three), a pizzeria, a restaurant-pizzeria on the beach (yes, the beach), a market and a bazaar, a newsstand and tobacco shops, a TV room with giant screen, a tennis court, beach volleyball court, play area, entertainment area, kids' club and a free wifi area… And there's also a hairdresser, because we don't see why beach holidays have to mean neglecting the barnet.
For an extra charge, guests can have private use of the two tennis courts or laundry service, hire paddle boats, go horse riding, try waterskiing, explore the area on an excursion or hire a private parking space (if available).
The site also issues a club card which allows guests beach service, use of the swimming pools, shared use of the sport fields and entry into evening entertainment which includes shows, cabaret, musicals, games and parties.
Food shops and a chemist are 5km from the site.

Local attractions
Wave hi to the many options and attractions in the Calabrian countryside around Sayonara Village, after of course a few days on that nearby beach…
The nearby town of Nicotera has ancient historic buildings and monuments dating back to the Roman Empire and comes highly recommended, as does the also-ancient town of Tropea within a short drive and with famed beaches and an Old Town, swish buildings on the cliff edges, a twelfth century Norman cathedral and a Franciscan monastery.
Also see the small village of Scilla, on a promontory in front of the Strait of Messina and also famed in the region for its beach, overlooked by Ruffo Castle built by the dukes of Calabria way back when around 400BC.
For swims, make for Capo Vaticano, the promontory in the area known for its topping bathing and its grey-white rock.
