Liked: We loved this site! Park on tenting pitch and toilet and shower facilities were the best we have seen on a campsite! All the staff were really friendly too :) the food van was great we all had breakfast from there, so handy so didnt have to put bbq on in morning to cook! Also got chips later in day, again lovely! FHU grass campsite

Liked: Perfect weekend stay, we stayed in field 3, beautiful scenery, toilets and showers were clean at all times, large pitch size, we were near the stream which is beautiful. Very peaceful. Staff were very friendly and helpful, shop reasonably priced and well stocked. Takeaway on site although we didnt use, ice cream van came on site. Bus stop right outside which is handy as once pitched we hopped on to Caernarfon. Will definitely be back.

Powered grass campsite

Liked: The scenery is easily the best out of all the sites we have been to and the park was sited brilliantly in the middle making it much easier for us to keep an eye on the kids.

Disliked: The WiFi, as you know young kids these days need thier fix and the site WiFi wasn’t up to it, constantly asking for the password, saying signal to weak etc etc. hardly a complaint but if you where to ask that would be my opinion, lots of good options out there, no need tos struggle with signal strength any more.

Liked: Very clean site. Helpful and welcoming staff. Perfect location for us especially with the bus stop outside

Disliked: Stated on website that had a takeaway facility, however this wasn’t running at the time we stayed. Staff kindly informed us that local takeaways did deliver to site.

FHU cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked: Site is positioned in absolutely beautiful area surrounded by hills. It’s very peaceful. There is steam train going past through the day which is nice to see and hear and kids loved looking at it. It has got two playgrounds and it’s very well maintained. We would happily come back. Showers are nice and hot and have normal tap so you don’t have to keep pushing button all the time to keep hot water coming.

Disliked: Can’t think of anything negative about this site.

Local attractions

Legend says Gelert, a hound belonging to a Welsh prince, is buried in Beddgelert (15 minutes’ drive). Visit the grave, take in the views from the Aberglaslyn Pass (15 minutes) and then visit the Sygun Copper Mine (20 minutes) to learn more about the conditions in 19th-century mines. Adventurous types can tackle the fastest zipwire in the world at Zip World Penrhyn Quarry (half an hour). With underground trampolines based in slate caverns, you’re likely to work up a sweat. GreenWood Family Park (20 minutes) has traditional rides, including family-friendly rollercoasters. Where next? Perhaps Caernarfon Airport (25 minutes), where there’s an aviation museum and pleasure flights along the Menai Strait and around Snowdon? Portmeirion (35 minutes), an Italianate village featured on the telly? Or Llanberis (20 minutes), where the mountain railway departs? Llanberis is close to the National Slate Museum (20 minutes), which has the largest working water wheel in Britain.
