  • Family-friendly site in a rural spot three miles from Frome
  • A 15-minute drive from Longleat House and Longleat Safari Park
  • Firepits and games room on site
What are you going to want for dinner on your Somerset break? Perhaps the fickle British climate will bless you with barbecue weather or you'll feel like a tasty takeaway… Frankly, who knows what your future self will be feeling like, so it’s a crafty move to grab a spot at The Den and Orchard, where both are equally easy options. And that’s because this family-friendly site happens to have a fab takeaway right on site called the Fudeboy Kitchen which specialises in plant-based street food (open evenings from Thursday to Saturday). Firepits are positioned on every pitch for a laidback evening of cooking and flame gazing. The appointed chef can can acquire essentials at the supermarkets in Frome, three miles away. If you'd rather let someone else do the honours, it's possible to order local food delivery from your phone or take a short five-minute drive to local food outlets. The Den and Orchard is on the edge of Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so there are plenty of walks nearby to help you work up an appetite. Other days out nearby include fishing, mountain biking, visits to National Trust properties and the excellent Longleat Safari Park. Facilities on site include a washing-up area and a wooden toilet block with gents’ and ladies’ toilets and showers. A games room (with darts, table football and table tennis) is on hand too, for damp evenings and general entertainment.

Powered grass and gravel RV campsite

Liked: Nice level tidy site with good amenities. Great place to stay for a family, with a games room, garden play equipment and a locked gate. Beautiful countryside with lots of lovely places to visit.

Disliked: The site is near to a very noisy road. It's a small site and can be noisy near the games room, so probably not great for people who want a quiet place to stay. Toilets and showers are in sheds with gaps in the wood, making you feel a bit exposed. There wasn't enough toilets and showers, and we had to queue to get to a basin at times. At night the lights went off when we were in the shower/toilet and we had to run outside to make the lights come back on.

Liked: Really well kept campsite, park next to your allocated pitch, burners and stoves/BBQs to use, hot shower and tidy toilets. The slide is fun too. Staff were also very friendly l, great place to stay, close to Longleat, Lilly's cider brewery and about a half hour drive to Stonehenge

The Hollow camping pod (pet friendly)

Liked: Amazing accommodation with the bonus of a secure private outside space which was very much appreciated by our puppy. Was able to watch bats fly around the garden and spotted a barn owl fly over. Lovely and clean and tidy, friendly hosts and great facilities!

Powered grass and gravel tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Beautiful facilities, the picnic benches with each pitch is a great addition. Very child safe with electric gates. Well maintained pitches, we have already booked again.

Disliked: The only recommendation would be a slightly different flooring when you step out the shower, maybe a wooden slatted base or something to stand on that feels better than the concrete.

From the manager: Many thanks for your lovely review! We're glad you enjoyed your stay and happy that you have booked again! We completely agree with your comment and we have now placed a wooded slatted base down. We appreciate this feedback and we're always more than happy to rectify any issues. Kindest regards Natalie and Matt
