  • Family park a short stroll from the seaside town of Dawlish Warren
  • Daily entertainment, adventure play and restaurant facilities
  • Indoor and outdoor pool complexes, kids' club and dining area
You’ll strike gold with a family holiday or short break at Golden Sands Holiday Park, on the doorstep of some of Devon’s top scenic spots and family attractions, a short stroll away from famed Dawlish Warren beach and nature reserve… and with a goldmine of first-class facilities and entertainment on offer. As it’s a Park Holidays site, Golden Sands is aimed towards making breaks as hassle-free as possible: the excellent amenities in this lush countryside location include heated indoor and outdoor pool complexes, a kids’ club, amusements and the Adventure Land Play Area. There's also a dining area and takeaway, a mini mart shop to pick up essentials, and a launderette and washing-up area for whoever you can bribe to do the chores. The clubhouse has free wifi and Sky Sports; guests can also use the facilities at the other Park Holidays site nearby, Dawlish Sands, where there’s an entertainment venue with live acts in the evening as well as an indoor and outdoor pool. Dawlish Warren and the area around Golden Sands are justifiably popular with families: the beach is safe and sandy, backed with pretty dunes, and packed with good old-fashioned seaside attractions: think fairground attractions, crazy golf and ice cream among more… and then there’s the nature reserve, and the spectacular short train journey along the seawall to Teignmouth (take the line in the other direction and it will bring you to the city lights of Exeter).

Camping pod

Liked: The pods: new clean cosy with electric sockets and phone charging. Pod Site: was on a grassy hill Club house: was pleasant environment and had entertainment Toilet/Shower Block: near by ... showers had good pressure Access to Town: Shops, pubs, fairground Reception: Friendly and efficient Swim Pool: warm, with friendly life guards

Disliked: Showers: Flooded, no place to leave clothes, water pressured at door so shoes and clothes get wet. Toilets in club house did not flush, some leaked so floors were wet, toilets blocked with toilet paper Entertainment had children running on dance floor all night Bingo at £10 was too expensive for entertainment. Pages were one line only and no house, chance of winning not good as obviously linked to other sites. Pod: Window above bunk bed did not open so no way to get cool in bunk beds

Camping pod

Liked: The swimming pool was amazing, great temperature and lay out. The pods we stayed in were good, the location was brilliant with a short walk to the beach. Reception staff lovely as were the bar staff.

Disliked: The sign posts to get around were rubbish, and the food was pretty bad as well.

Camping pod

Liked: Camping pod was lovely, really clean and had everything you needed Would be warm in the winter so could stay out of season Clean sheets and airer to put your towels etc

Disliked: Couldn’t find an area to put your freezer blocks for the cool box No recycling points A travel kettle in the pods would be a great idea

Camping pod

Liked: The site was close Dawlish Warren and the views from the pod were lovely

Disliked: The facilities are to far from the pod we stayed in. The caravan owners had a gate they could use to walk there dogs off the lead in the pod field not the dog field which leads to their dogs approaching guests eating by their pod. The same gate would cut down the walk to the toilets yet pod guests are not allowed to use it. Sadly i have stayed with park holidays several times but the pods feel like a badly thought out after thought as its constant walking to do anything. Paying not much less than a caravan you should get better.

Camping pod

Liked: The swimming pool, and closeness of the park

Disliked: Toilet / shower block were not the cleanest and the camping pods were a long way from the main area. Also, one hour booking slots for the swimming pool which need to be booked at 9am with a lifeguard wasn't great. WiFi was £14.99 for 4 days.

Camping pod

Liked: The facilities for the pod area the showers toilets were always very clean and tidy well done to the team. The clubhouse and children’s entertainment was great and the two gentlemen that were the entertainers were so good the children were really enjoying it. Cinderella pantomime was fantastic and again the children were so engaged but also the adults Swimming facilities were exceptional and thoroughly enjoyed using it.

Disliked: Paid for WiFi and didn’t load properly so was a waste of money

Local attractions

Dawlish Warren is a safe and clean family beach with all the old-fashioned activities kids will clamour for: Punch and Judy, amusements and crazy golf among the decorative dunes, as well as chuffing along the sea wall on the train journey to Teignmouth or wandering among the wildfowl and wading birds at the Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve. Slightly further afield there are coastal resorts like Paignton and Torquay, cantering on horseback in Dartmoor National Park and exploring the gardens and history of Devon: the secret gardens of Powderham Castle will keep the kids enthralled, and they’ll also have a swashbuckling time at the Golden Hind, the replica of Sir Francis Drake’s 16th-century ship moored at Brixham. Or you could just pack everyone up and head out of Golden Sands to see where your feet or pedals take you: this area of the country is renowned for its walking and cycling routes, whether you’re cruising along the coastline, foraging through forests, ambling through the area’s villages or making your way around spectacular Dartmoor.
