Liked: The shower blocks were lovely and clean was very happy with them. The site it self was very clean and well maintained. My children absolutely loved the park sent literally the hole time there witch was nice as they made some friends. Nice and close to shops will definitely be coming back.

Liked: Good location for a walk into Colchester, or a bus ride if you prefer. The toilet and shower facilities were clean and functional and not too far asay from most pitches. The site is secure. The hardstanding pitches were a good size. There is a park just 5 minutes away for dog exercising. The dog walk on site is fine for the dog's functional needs but does not really offer much of walk for exercise. We chose to walk into Colchester using the footpath and track in Spring Lane, Lexden, and it was very pleasant 45 minute walk into Colchester centre. We caught the bus back which appears to run quite frequently.

Disliked: You get noise from the A12 traffic which could be a bit annoying but it didn't worry us too much. Also, if you walk to Lexden you have to cross a fairly busy road. No WiFi.

Liked: Good sized level pitch, very friendly team. Shower and toilet facilities were clean, although quite small Great location with nice woodland walks, pubs and frequent buses to Colchester centre a 5 min walk away

Disliked: Road noise but we knew that when we chose the site.

Liked: The welcome by the warden was excellent. She explained the site and facilities. The pitch was level and easy to hook up. The site was very clean and tidy. The staff were all helpful and polite. My wife and myself had a good relaxing time.

Disliked: The toilets were clean and tidy. They could do with modernisation.

Local attractions

Classic Colchester is a popular pick for holidaymakers in the area, who come to see Colchester Castle and Castle Museum with its extensive exhibit on Roman Colchester; the social history Hollytrees Museum and the Natural History Museum in the city's former All Saints' Church. Plenty of restaurants, pubs and shops are here too, as well as decent leisure options like a leisure centre, ten-pin bowling, roller skating, the Mercury Theatre, the Arts Centre and the Minories Gallery. If you're on holiday with kids, Colchester Zoo is always a hit, as is the East Anglian Railway Museum at Chappel which has heaps of activities for young explorers. The Colne Valley Railway's mile of track is at the old village of Castle Hedingham, also well worth a look for its Norman Hedingham Castle and timber-framed medieval buildings. The area surrounding Colchester Country Park is excellent walking, cycling and nature spotting land with miles of nature reserves, footpaths and bike trails: head from Colchester to Alresford a mile and a half away or join up with the 81-mile long Essex Way from Epping to Harwich.

Changes to your holiday

Bookings cannot be amended within 28 day(s) of arrival.

Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

Dogs

Dogs must be kept on leashes and supervised at all times.
Guide dogs are allowed on site free of charge.
The park does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Breed-specific legislation (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

Motorcycle(s) can be brought instead of the car(s) included.

General

Bookings are nominative and non-transferable.
In the event of a complaint, please speak to reception immediately. Complaints which are not brought to the management's attention during your stay cannot be dealt with once you have left the site.
Quiet hours must be respected between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m..
Radio, music and TV players must be kept at a low volume. Car doors and trunks must be closed quietly.
The management reserves the right to deny access or terminate the stay of those guests whose behavior is deemed unsuitable. No refunds will be offered.

Occupancy

Group bookings of 4 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).
Group bookings of 6 or more units (e.g. tent, caravan, RV or accommodation hire) traveling together are not permitted via Pitchup.com.
No bachelor/bachelorette parties permitted via Pitchup.com.
Single-sex bookings of 4 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

Reception

Reception is unmanned after 5 p.m.. Please inform the park while on your way there should you expect to arrive after this time so that the team can provide information about your unit/site.

Safety

Barbecues are permitted but must be raised off the ground and attended by an adult at all times.
Open fires are prohibited.

Sites

Units should not be left unoccupied unless previously agreed with the management. Please speak to reception when the need arises, a fee may be charged for unsupervised units.
You must follow management instructions when setting up your tent/rig and related equipment.

Vehicles

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.
No vehicle movement between midnight and 5:30 a.m..
Only one car is to be parked at the site. Extra vehicles must be parked in the designated area.

Visitors

Visitors’ cars are not permitted on site.
Visitors must leave the premises by 8 p.m..
Visitors must register at reception and pay their fee.
