Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Lovely clean and warm shower and toilet facilities. Pub and small play park on site.

Disliked: I always think a hub with a fridge and plug sockets doesn't go amiss!

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: The campsite had beautiful views & surroundings, whilst there we were lucky to see deer and wild rabbits. The facilitities were fantastic. The shower blocks were always clean, tidy and warm. We used the cafe on site for a cup of tea and the most delicious scones. We saw other other couples tucking into afternoon teas which looked amazing. We will be having one of those next time and trying the spa. Just a short stroll onto Grassington. Plenty of WiFi up at the facilities. No signal on the fields for us, but this didn't bother us.

Disliked: The downside was there was only two trolleys to cart your equipment across the field as there is no parking on the field. Therefore when those were being used it was a bit of a slog going back and forth. However the rest of the experience made up for this.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Great venue with fantastic facilities and customer services was great. The showers and toilets are the best I have seen at a camping site and also lovely facilities up at the spa and cafe. Great walks around and not far from Grassington town and local Spar.

Disliked: No wifi at campsite but can get it up at the cafe/spa.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Camping site is beautiful, lots of rabbits around it. We loved the cafe and pub food, it was fresh and delicious :) Bathroom and toilets were clean and tidy.

Disliked: We couldn’t park our car next to the tent :/ P.S - 2 trolleys are kept by the owner to move your items from car to the camping site so we had to move all items in our tent. Usually we keep few items in the car boot and take it out as required but this time we had to remove everything from our car

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: The site is really pleasant, it is within a leisure park with statics and lodges but you are way out of the way from them. The facilities are excellent, very modern. The site is well looked after and no weeds. There is LOTS of wildlife around so do keep your eyes peeled.

Disliked: The "day passes" for the swimming pool/sauna/hot tub were fully booked as they only allow 10 "Guest" passes each session. Fully paid members of the site take priority. The cafe on-site was a bit poor too, I wouldn't recommend the cafe for lunch. Saturday afternoon at 12:30 and we were only 3 covers and they were struggling. I can see why the cafe doesn't attract that many people at lunchtimes..... Dirty/uncleared tables, inexperienced staff and unavailability of menu items.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Beautiful countryside setting with wonderful views and peaceful atmosphere. This site is not crowded and has the added benefit of a leisure centre with pool and sauna, cafe and pub . Clean heated toilet and shower block with powerful showers. Lots of walks around and Threshfield and Grassington just up the road.

Disliked: Nothing

Local attractions

Travel two miles to Grassington for a day around its tearooms and shops, then drop into the Grassington National Park Centre for info on what to see and do nearby. Walks leave right from the centre or from the village, including a waterside wander by the River Wharfe to Linton Falls, hikes over Grassington Moors, or a potter around the Grassington Riverside & Woods trail (pick up a leaflet for this at the centre). Grassington is also on the Dales Way, the 80-mile route from Ilkley in West Yorkshire to Bowness-on-Windermere in Cumbria: hardy types can tackle the 13 miles from Grassington to Yockenthwaite, or hike in the other direction on the 16-mile stretch to Ilkley. For cycling, take the Yorkshire Dales Cycleway from Grassington to Ilkley and from there to Bolton Abbey. If you'd much (much) prefer sightseeing and shopping days instead, the market town of Skipton is within 15 minutes' drive and Harrogate is within 50.
