Powered grass campsite

Liked: Very friendly. Grass electric pitch was level and large, ample room for sitting out, awnings etc. Very good value for money. Had dinner at the inn. Good food and pleasant atmosphere. Toilets etc a little tired but, clean and fully functioning.

Disliked: Would be overly harsh to say I disliked anything.

Liked: Another wonderful long weekend at the Providence Inn. Great site for the kids with a wonderful pub. We ate in the pub this time and the food is fantastic with great service. Looking forward to going back again soon. Thanks to get guy who lent us some jump leads as our battery was dead 😂 We always love this site.

Local attractions

To work up an appetite for dinner, drive north for about 15 minutes to the North York Moors National Park, head west for the Howardian Hills (25 minutes) or make a break for the beaches and coast path around Filey and Scarborough (both about half an hour away) or Whitby (45 minutes). A bit of history as you roam? Stop in at Castle Howard (25 minutes) to stroll through the elegant gardens, visit the stunning stately home and seek out the secret island. Swish Scampston Hall (10 minutes) is also worth a stop, and there’s more recent history on display among the 20th-century exhibits at Eden Camp history museum (15 minutes). For more rural pursuits, join the pretty pink birds at Flamingo Land (20 minutes) or puff through the countryside on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway from Pickering (15 minutes). When you fancy a change of scenery, head to York (45 minutes) for a day of visits to the minster, the city walls, the Jorvik Viking Centre, the railway museum, the chocolate museum…
