Dog-friendly pub in the village of Foolow, 10 minutes’ walk away

Cows and sheep for neighbours, gorgeous walks from the door and a short drive from the likes of Bakewell (home of Bakewell tarts) and Chatsworth House… who could turn down a Peak District getaway at Brosterfield Farm Caravan Park? The site was originally run back in the 70s, as an addition to the then working Brosterfield Farm, before it ceased trading in 2003. The owners bought the farm in 2009 and slowly renovated it into their family home and the existing site – the surrounding acres are owned by themselves and farmed by the local farmer. What a stunning place it is, too: the field is quiet and surrounded by farmland. The main thing is that it’s small and low-key, as the owners want the experience to feel as natural as possible. There are modern showers and toilets. Dogs (up to two per pitch) are also welcome. There are some gorgeous walks from the door – and if you’re keen to dabble in other activities, mountain biking, cycling, shopping, taking photos or simply finding a spot to read a book or sip a drink will be very easy. The local pub is handily dog-friendly (inside and out). It’s only 10 minutes’ walk away in the village of Foolow, a pretty and traditional place with lots of walking trails, a duck pond and the aforementioned country pub with an excellent restaurant, open fires and good ales. Another pub is half an hour’s walk away from the site, and has views over the village.

This is a quiet park: no music is allowed.
Guests are advised to bring a good quality flashlight with them as parts of the park are unlit.

The toilet/shower block is only open for guests between 13 March and 31 October. The site is hosting an event on Saturday, 12 July, 2024 and there will be associated music/noise until midnight.

Liked: I really liked surrounding. It was green and quiet. Shower and toilets blocks and washing up area were superb. Very clean. I liked the option of hiring a bbq and buying wood. Easy access with code on the entrance. WiFi by the facilities

Disliked: Bins were overloaded and everything was falling on the floor. WiFi access did not work on the pitch

Liked: Spacious site with easy access to the Peak District either on foot, bike or car. No idea what wifi is like, but there is decent phone signal (O2). The village pub is very welcoming and dog friendly, but not all of the local pubs are! Bakewell is 15 mins drive, as are Chatsworth and Monsal Head

Disliked: It was tricky to get the caravan level: we had had a lot of rain and the ground was a bit soft, but if I had taken some larger pieces of wood to spread the weight more: it wouldn't have been an issue - I'll do that if I go back!

Liked: Spacious level field, well marked pitches, good washing up facilities, clean toilets and showers, good nighttime lighting of shower block, good facilities for disposing of campervan waste and filling water tank, friendly and helpful owners.

Disliked: We felt that the signage could be improved e.g. to the bins.

Modifications are subject to a £10.00 ($12.71) fee.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Please pick any available site on arrival.
The park will send you further check-in information 2 day(s) before your arrival.

Dogs

Dogs must be kept on leashes and supervised at all times.
The park does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Breed-specific legislation (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

General

Bookings are nominative and non-transferable.
