Camping pod (hot tub, plus)

Liked: We stayed 2 nights in a pod with our dog, and it was spot on. Hot tub was warm on arrival, the pod itself was a lovely size and very clean! Toilets and showers were always clean also. We can’t fault the site at all and the staff were lovely - we will definitely be back next year!

Camping pod (hot tub, plus)

Liked: Had a really enjoyable stay. The staff were on hand regularly to ask advice or help out where needed. Communal facilities are clean and tidy. Will be returning that’s for sure, maybe will go for a bell tent next time instead of a cabin just to try something different.

Bell tent (hot tub, plus)

Liked: Tent ⛺️ Location Easy check in

Disliked: Other peoples Children running near and around the tent and hot tub Stones around the hot tub and no wood decking heading to the hot tub steps making you walk on sharp stones to get in and out of the hot tub

Bell tent (deluxe, hot tub)

Liked: We really enjoyed our stay. 2 Grandparents with our grandchildren, was perfect we all loved it. Very welcoming on arrival, thankyou. Space, hot tub, tent and area around. The walks close to the camp site down by the tow path. Close location for Calke Abbey and Conkers which our grandchildren loved.

Disliked: People walked through "our space" to access toilets, which felt uncomfortable especially when we were carrying food etc to the table or in the hot tub. Close to the toilets, sometimes a bit smelly.

Camping pod (hot tub)

Liked: We stayed in a basic pod with hot tub and was surprised to have a wooden canopy over the decking with solar lights on the pictures there wasn't one but they all had them. Pod was bigger than we thought it was. Also a large BBQ another added bonus. Very friendly staff who came round daily to re- stock our wood. Hot tub heated up quickly. Our dog enjoyed her time too and had lots of space to walk her round. Toilets and showers very clean and looked after. Would definitely stay again.

Disliked: Pods were a bit to close together.

Local attractions

Barrow On Trent may be a peaceful spot, but if day trips are your thing you’ll likely appreciate its excellent transport links: major roads like the A50, A6 and M1 are all within easy reach. The local area's got a lot going for it, too: anglers can spend their days at nearby Robinwood Lakes (10 minutes' drive), while speed demons can zoom down to Donington Park race circuit (15 minutes) or East Midlands Aeropark (20 minutes). For more high-adrenaline adventure, head to the classic rides at Alton Towers theme park (40 minutes).  For days spent at a gentler pace, head to the house and grounds at Elvaston Castle Country Park (15 minutes) or the National Trust's Calke Abbey (15 minutes). More history is on hand at Derby's Pickford House Museum (20 minutes) – swing by here to try on some Regency costumes (if you think you can pull them off).  In need of some nature therapy? Head for the Peaks for walks in the spectacular valleys around Dovedale (50 minutes) or bracing hilly hikes like the Win Hill trail (about an hour and a quarter). For an unconventional stroll closer to base, pencil in a date with the Charnwood Forest alpacas (20 minutes).
