We loved our stay at Wheal Rodney. The campsite is quiet and peaceful in a picturesque location. Felt safe, and surrounded by lovely fields that were perfect for exercising our dog in the mornings, yet only 15 mins walk down into Marazion. The friendly staff will advise you the best route, as well as any other information you need. They were helpful and welcoming and advised on good restaurants to try (Kota Kai in Porthleven is amazing and dog friendly at lunch though not evenings).
We liked how peaceful the camping field felt, the 10pm quiet rule was well adhered to and everyone was very respectful - not the place to come if you want to be rowdy! The field was almost full at times despite it being term-time (though mainly couples so not sure what it’s like in school holidays) but still felt quiet.
Our pitch was flat and the field is well maintained with the groundskeeper mowing pitches after each stay. The pitch was big enough to fit our large tent and car.
Facilities were excellent and made our stay easy - the kitchen has laundry, washing up facilities, microwave, fridge and freezers. The bathrooms were clean and we never had to queue, the women’s bathroom had hairdryers and the showers were hot with great water pressure, and overheard rain showers as well as a handheld shower attachment! The men’s showers were apparently just overhead but still hot with decent pressure.
The indoor pool was a great bonus that you don’t usually get, included free with your stay! The few times we got back early enough in the evenings before it closed at 6:30pm it was lovely to swim, especially to warm up after swimming in the cold sea. Also a great option if the weather is miserable.
Location-wise as well as being excellent for Marazion, it made a great base to explore the rest of Cornwall. The price was very reasonable and we really enjoyed our stay - we’d definitely come back again!
