Large site with fantastic views. Non electric is park where you like on designated field. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Toilets and shower block spotless . Two wash up areas also kept very clean. Bar on site fab and fish and chip van visit on the Saturday night ( although we ate in the nearby town of wirksworth). This site is great for kids to play and be free, even a sand pit for the little ones. We will definitely return.

Beautiful, countryside location with views for miles. Nice if you are looking for a quiet retreat as there are not many pitches on site. Plenty of space for Large tents and an area to border off with windbreaker for a BBQ. They have electric and non electric pitches. As a whole the campsite is clean. Toilets & showers were kept nice and clean. There is an area for the children to play football and other games alike if they choose which is directly in the middle of the site. There is also a large sandpit area for them to play in, which my kids absolutely loved! Dogs allowed (kept on leads). Owners very welcoming and polite. Offered to bring fire pits to our pitch if requested. Plenty of countryside to explore nearby.

Showers were very hot/cold and pressure drops sometimes.
The market and pizza van was not ever open during our stay, but this may have been because we went in the week rather than the weekend.

We had an excellent three-night stay at the Racecourse Retreat. The staff were welcoming and very friendly. The facilities were fantastic and well-maintained. On Friday and Saturday evenings, the bar was open, and food was available. The kids loved the large field and sandpit, especially enjoying toasting marshmallows over the campfire. The location was perfect, and the pitch was spacious. We would definitely recommend it and will be staying again.

One thing that would improve the site would be a play area with a few slides

The views were stunning. One of the best sites we have stayed at. There was a huge sand pit with buckets for the kids and a goal post for the kids to use. The pitches were large. The toilets were individual which was good especially the ladies toilet which had a few extra toiletries left in should you need them. Although only one pot wash sink, it had sponges and washing up liquid left which was a bonus when you forget to bring yours from the tent. There was a bar on site for the weekend which wasn’t overly noisy and a van where you could purchase food at the weekend too. The staff were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. My daughter who was coming in a separate car was stranded and they drove me down to her to save me walking to find her. They really did go above and beyond. I would definitely go back to stay here. There were many places to visit within 20-30 minutes drive.

Toilet facilities fine while quiet bur needs more for busy periods

A fantastic well maintained site ran by a great friendly family. Loads of room for children to safely kick a ball around, play games, etc away from the pitches. Food, bar, TV and table tennis on site which was super handy. (Might only be at weekends so double check) Clean and hot showers. The best views, beautiful local walks. (The town about 1.5mile walk)
We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely visit again.
