Lovely place in gorgeous surroundings! Really cozy accommodation and great for fishing! Our son particularly enjoyed it & the cafe on site is amazing! The food is lovely! Would highly recommend and we definitely hope to return soon!

Fantastic surroundings, amazing wildlife, particularly the birds. The site and all of the pitches were clean and well maintained. The onsite cafe was very convenient (open til 3pm) and had a good selection of food and drinks on offer. The Bakewell frangipane was incredible!

Very remote and peaceful site, we had the place to ourselves for two of the three nights we stayed.

There was a good mixture of pitches available from grassed pitches near the lakes and some for tents further away, as well as hardstanding pitches near the shower block.

Washing up facilities provided outside the shower block, had hot and cold water and washing up bowls provided. Waste water and chemical disposal on site which is very handy.

Fishing tackle shop was very useful and had lots of equipment you might need or may have forgotten at very reasonable prices.

The showers were cold and the ventilation in the ladies toilet/shower wasn't great so there was constant condensation pooling on the floor at the bottom of the cubicle doors. You could also smell the chemical waste disposal next to the shower block which was a bit whiffy!

The pitch we booked was described as grass and hardstanding, but on arrival it transpired to be one or the other. When we checked in we were directed to an area of the site to park up our campervan but quickly realised this was a field for tents with no EHU which we had paid for. We did move onto the hardstanding nearby and then the following day moved onto a grass EHU pitch nearer the lakes. The EHU points were numbered but we weren't told which one we should be on.

We couldn't find any bins to dispose of our waste so ended up taking it with us to dispose of off site.

Fishing was expensive for fly-fishing. Catch numbers according to the board were low for all anglers. The aerators were running constantly and were both noisy and made fishing with any kind of finesse practically impossible due to the water movement. Also it wasn't clear which lakes were for different types of fishing or which tickets you needed to purchase.

Absolutely loved this place. We stayed in the gypsy style caravan overlooking the lake. In the evening we had a bbq as the sun went down, while sharing a bottle of wine, sitting at the picnic bench. We were surrounded by hills and gorgeous scenery. In the morning the geese waddled up to the fence, before heading down to the lake.
The caravan is beaufiful inside with a double bed and two bunk beds. It has a log burner, if needed.
The kitchen is out the back, the gas cooker, sink and equipment is covered but you're not. So be prepared to put on a rainmac when doing the washing up😄. Thankfully we stayed dry the whole time we were there.
The showers are a short, scenic walk across the field or you can drive via an access road.
The owners are super friendly and run an excellent cafe on site. Highly recommend the Welsh Breakfast.
Also recommend the hiking in the hills just across the road, spectacular views. We followed the mountain bike trail back to the campsite, thus next time we go we'll bring our bikes.
For Parkrunners, Ruthin Parkrun is a short drive away.

Absolutely nothing

Loved the site. Very well maintained. Excellent fishing lakes - well stocked. Hot showers - everywhere very clean and tidy.
Oh and I saw a kingfisher!!

No drainage in washing up area and no lighting...had to put Gents toilet lights on to see what I was doing!
Also no lighting when going to shower at night so difficult to see the step

We have been coming to this lovely campsite for years now with my family, the last time I went we all noticed a small change, James wasn’t there what a lovely man but we still had a good time. owe I got a bacon sandwich one slice of bacon not happy with that .

Pristine site .supper hot shower's. Great fishing.

Great site with nice facilities and well kept. Small pond to fish with children. Cafe on site with wide range of items. Did not explore area as site was scenic enough and enjoyed fishing on site.
