Many thanks for your great review. With regard to the £ charge. The reason I do this is to keep my prices down and to make it fair for those who may not want to use the shower. Eg. If I had say a group of six adults staying for three nights it would put the price up to an unworkable level. The other factor is my limiting the shower time to ten minutes it helps to prevent campers monopolising the shower thereby creating a queue. I find most people do bring cash eg alot of campers buy eggs from me. |

Thank you for a positive review. I am so sorry you had trouble with shower. It has been working with no problems and I'm wondering if you hadn't realised that it comes on after two minutes to allow people time to undress so they get a full ten minutes for a pound. I do hope you'll come again and I'll provide free showers for you. |

Thank you for your comments. I'm presuming you joined the Sandstone Trail which is a few minutes walk up the lane. It is up to the landowner whose land the trail passes over to keep it clear enough to walk through. I'm sorry if this wasn't the case. I'll make a call to the highways department to see what can be done. I depending on how energetic my campers are feeling, I often suggest if they have a car, to drive a few minutes to the foot of larkton and Bickerton Hill where there is a car park. It is all very well cared for by the National Trust and the views are spectacular. I was concerned that you only gave me six marks for cleanliness which surprised me because I regularly inspect the toilets, shower and kitchen. I would suggest it would be fairer to give a broader overview of cleanliness bearing in mind I might have just cleaned and then someone might have used the kitchen or toilet and not left it as clean as it should be. With regard to the rules. The only rules as such are that no one go into a field with horses in for their own safety. Preferably also don't feed the horses as small children especially might get their fingers in the way! I am strict on recycling because Chester West insist on rubbish being recycled in a certain way. Despite easy to follow instructions I often find rubbish in the wrong bins and food mixed in with dry rubbish which I have to sift through and believe me it is not pleasant. There are signs under light switches asking people to turn lights off. I suspect children are the worst culprits for leaving lights on. Any other signs around the camp site are informational to hopefully make people's lives easier. With regard to toilet paper. I believe it's common practice for campers to bring their own paper mainly owing to the habit of campers walking away with the toilet rolls. I was advised by a good friend who has a nearby campsite not to provide toilet rolls for this reason. When I first opened, I did supply loo rolls and went through about forty in one weekend. On the plus side I do provide campers with a kitchen and free washing up liquid etc. I am really sorry that your experience at larkhill cottage camping did not live up to your expectations. |

Good site, handy spot, friendly greetings

Thank you so much chaps for such a lovely review. I have to say, people from the North East are lovely and friendly too. It was a pleasure to host your group and maybe see you again. By the way, I wasn't imagining it, I did see the attempt on trumps life. I'd done my usual trick of falling asleep in front of the telly and I awoke to a news flash late on. Kind regards Claire.
