Easy to find clean and well maintained

Lovely quiet campsite. Just pitch up where you like. Small fires allowed if in a fire pit off the ground.
Ideally situated for walks directly from the campsite, or hopping on the train to start elsewhere with the train station less than 5 minute walk from the campsite.

Toilets although clean are portaloo and have no lights at night, no cleaning area to clean pans etc
The “local pub” 20 minute walk up the hill stopped serving food at 6pm and no other options close by so either eat before before you arrive or take food with you.

Basic facilities but are kept clean and well stocked.

The site location is beautiful, the view to Bamford Edge is amazing. The signage makes it really easy to find. The site is relatively flat so finding a spot to pitch is easy. The toilets were clean, plenty of fresh water. It took us a nice 2 hour walk up to Bamford Edge from the site.

'Peaceful' and 'tranquil' are not two words I would use to describe our stay....i appreciate you can't guarantee who pitches up but... a group of 3 large families all pitched up together then set up a cricket pitch/rounders pitch in the middle of the field......yelling, screaming, shouting (yes having fun I'm not a total kill joy!) But not tranquil and peaceful. Then the family of 4 less than 10 metres from us who's 2 girls have one volume which was LOUD, and 2 dogs that constantly escaped that they would chase around the field shouting at them to come back after 10pm..Then when they ran past other tents the other dogs started barking......Or the gay couple that pitched on the other side of us that had a blazing row at midnight! Arguing over who was sleeping in the car, and wailing like a banshee, slamming car doors because he'd lost the keys.......Someone should tell people you can pitch in the middle of the field, it doesn't have to be around the edge right next to someone else! Not serious enough complaints to wake the owners etc but enough that I would not return here. Hopefully we were just unfortunate with it being busy but we often book basic campsites that are just fields with a portaloo because they tend to be the most peaceful, this was certainly not.

Lovely location, large and peaceful site. Liked the back to basics feel about it. There isn't a management office or anything you just drive in and pick your pitch. The staff come round early evening to check your booking then leave you to it. The only facilities on site are porta loos, drinking water and bins

Proper toilet facilities would be an improvement. Dont mind there not being showers, but a wash basin would be nice rather than just a portable toilet with hand gel

Pitch where you like. Massive pitch. Two tents allowed.basic no nonsense site

Train line was noisy at night but not often.

The site is excellent with a park right on the doorstep, nice little walk from the main village quite site with lots of room for you to relax. Host very welcoming and pleasant to deal with always on hand to help out if needed

I really liked this quiet campsite field. It was easy to find and there was loads of space for me to set up. The loos were clean and I could see that they were maintained regularly. It was a convenient distance to the train station so I could easily walk to hathersage and get the train back.
