A great spot in walking distance of the local town and nestled under Mam Tor. Great field to pitch your tent with lots of space. I stayed for one Friday night and was able to pitch far in the corner with my dog so we had lots of space and privacy.
Is a basic location with clean portaloo toilets which was all we needed. Owner was lovely and the booking process and collection of payment was very easy.

Would have been an added bonus if there was a stile to get into the next door paddock where the pathway to the town and hill was to save walking around.

Amazing location, friendly and helpful staff! Definitely worth a visit.

Location and proximity to castleton and mam tor is excellent

-No showers or proper toilets.
-Porto loos were pretty gross.
-Very windy and exposed campsite and our tent nearly blew away!
-£40 to rent a small campfire for a night is quite ridiculous

We really enjoyed the site the location is brilliant with a lovely back drop of winnats pass and mam tor, which was also convenient to walk in a loop as the way back toward castleton from the top of mam Tor goes right by the turning for the site.

£30 to hire a fire pit and logs felt a bit steep when the fire pit is only £22 in go outdoors 😂 but that’s the only gripe really nice campsite and lovely people

friendly lady who came around collecting the money, the toilets to say they were portaloos were impeccably clean.

footpath to Castleton precarious in dark, road option is also a challenge, need a torch, poor signage, didn't do what they said they would i.e. promised a further text with a link to directions, never received it.

Good location for getting straight up to the walking routes. Nice stroll into the town. Quiet site. Well stocked clean toilets

Shame there are no showers but had a hillbilly shower so was fine

The location is great for Mam and Back Tor. You can take your own barbecue and fire pit. The field is a decent size so even when its busy youre not all crammed in together. Fabulous views all around. Its a 15 minute walk into the village that has a good choice of pubs/cafes. Also at the base of the castle entrance is a chip shop, the fish and chips were the best I've tasted in a long time!

Sadly, no shower facilities.

Fantastic setting, walking distance of castleton and walking paths. Lots of space.

Lack of bins (although we knew this before booking). There was also a large group playing music until 3am.

Convenient location for Mam Tor, the Ridge and Castleton.
Portaloos basic but kept clean.

A big group of youths playing music till 02:30am, people arriving back to the campsite again early hours and shouting and swearing using loud voices.
A very basic field, with no running water or rubbish disposal (this is advertised on their website though).

Perfect location.Great value for money site with a lovely views. Owner of site very helpful. Will definitely return. Basic facilities, portaloos and washing up sink.

Mobile coffee van nearby in the afternoons and fire put hire too!
