For context, we had a nonelectric grass pitch for our family of four.
1. Service was lacking. We had to wait for someone to come let us into the barrier, and he could have been friendlier. He couldn't get out of there fast enough and I barely caught what he said. We didn't see a single other member of staff our entire stay (3 nights)
2. Shower facilities were not great (although the water at least was hot). There wasn't even a small shelf to put toiletries on (had to put bottles on the dirty floor), and there was no bench/stool to put bags/personal items on either
3. The decking at the shower/toilet block was broken in many places with serious trip hazards. Instead of fixing it, they'd just put up "trip hazard" signs. Really dangerous
4. Why was there a bright floodlight shining across the entire campsite all night? It was like "sleeping" in Wembley stadium. I can understand a few small lights on the toilet block, but this was unnecessary and really disturbed our sleep
5. There was a lot of litter across the site including old socks, carrier bags, food containers and even old fishing tackle with bait covered in flies. Gross
6. The nearest drinking water tap was located right next to the stinking bins where people were putting food waste and dog crap. Again, gross and unhygienic
7. People were letting their dogs run around off the lead despite signs saying they should be kept on a lead at all times. One ran into our tent just as we were setting up beds and got gross muddy paw prints all over my daughter's brand new sleeping bag. One man also let his dog take a giant shit in the middle of the field right where my children were trying to play football. There should be a designated, fenced off dog toilet area so that everyone isn't having to walk through/play in a giant dog latrine 🤢🤮
Although the area was pretty, we wouldn't go back to this particular campsite.
