There is a bath in the shower block! Park was very quiet on Sunday night. Friendly receptionist waited a few minutes past usual closing time for us to arrive. Walk through to Lowther Castle is lovely. Great base for visiting the area.

Some of the park’s amenities including the bakery / shop, and the shower block near the touring pitches were closed. The pub wasn’t serving food, also getting into the toilets was a bit tricky as the combination lock wasn’t illuminated…

Tranquil location, friendly and helpful staff, good and clean facilities, great walks by the river, very reasonable price. All round great stay.

I don't want to slate the site as it looked lovely and the river looked like the kids would enjoy it in the summer

Went on the pitchup description that there was a bakery, shop and bar. Arrived at the site to be told none were open. Politely Checked out as not what we'd paid for or were equipped for... having packed based on there being a bar, shop, bakery as per the pitchup description. We checked in about 14:30. No big drama.
Requested a refund but site denied as they'd sent a confirmation email with bar etc opening times. Searched for the email which was sent 2 days after booking straight to my junk folder, in the small print at the bottom there is a link taking you to their website with opening times which yes showed it wasn't open when we visited.

I ask, what is the point in having a description on pitchup if it doesn't reflect fact and the site description is different. Other campsite descriptions generally say if shops etc are shut out of season but not Lowthers which is why we chose it.
I still dont see the point of having all that information on pitchup if it is not accurate. Pitchup say its the campsite's responsibility to ensure accuracy, the campsite says i got an email so tough...

£35 for a lesson learnt but feel the campsite could have shown some flexibility given it's out of season and the site wasn't full so we hadn't taken the spot of another paying customer. It was our first time booking there and probably would have booked again mid season with the kids as the site did look nice but the response from management leaves a sour taste.

The reception were extremely helpful.

Peaceful and quiet forest pitch in the middle of the park, close to all necessary things such as Toilet/Shower Block & Walks.
50 acre site so loads of walks, including a 5.5 mile walk to Pooley Bridge.
Supermarkets nearby for all essentials.
1 mile scenic drive from the main road to the entrance of the park.
I would stay here again, but solely due to the location and nearby walks.

No wifi at the pitch at all.
Pitch only big enough for the caravan. No room for the car and no car park nearby. If the site was busy, I wouldn’t know what it would be like in terms of cars, etc.
Toilets are key coded which can get annoying if you forget the code.
Cobwebs and spiders all over the toilet/shower block, clearly no care taken to ensure high standards of cleaning.
When in the shower, the fire alarm sounded 3 times due to the steam from the showers…
There were 4 vans/motorhomes and the park decided to put us all next to each other, rather than slightly spaced out.

The whole adventure from start to finish was brill. A phone call to ask eta, the friendly ladies in the office, the size of the pitch and ease, toilet/ shower facilities were clean and plentiful. The walk to Lowther Castle was also rewarding. Will stay again.

Super clean well maintained facilities and close to good walks for our dogs, we went in winter time so it was quiet but lovely, and a fantastic setting.
