We loved the feel of this site from the outset, with lovely spaces for you to put your van/motorhome/caravan. Some lakeside, some a little further away.
The site was relaxed (none of the Club Site park this way, don't deviate! or you'll be banned) so it was up to us how we sited our camper van to suit us.
Though we had a bit of a set back at first, when we set up, (possibly user error! or maybe just a combination of factors) being unable to hook up to the electric on our first night. We were assisted that evening by Sue who tried (in the dark) to work out the problem. We thought it might have been sorted but in the morning we went to the site office to see if any one was able to help us figure out what to do. The post was working fine & the fault seemed to be at the van side of things. Two lovely guys, Paddy & his mate were soon able to isolate the issue & were so helpful, kindly getting us sorted out.
We had a very peaceful stay, felt safe and knew that the staff throughout were very approachable from the Cleaning Ladies through to the Head Honcho's.
There are other activities held at this location including a Car Boot Sale on the Saturday morning which seemed well attended in spite of the overcast skies. This was well marshalled and little disturbance that we were aware of at all.
Using a friends recommendation to stay as we enjoy Geocaching, this proved to be an ideal place to undertake a variety of caching series.
We didn't get to use the restaurant and bar, but others who were staying here were equally as friendly, which probably reflected the nature of the site.
We used a small amount of electric each day, and were happy with the overall experience. Happy to recommend the site for a few relaxing days away in a lovely county, full of forestry and wildlife that we were to experience & enjoy.
The lakes were peaceful, though there were fisherman who were there, we had little awareness of that as they did their thing and we did ours.
Locally, a little town called Brandon looked lively as we passed through it, but due to the reason for our visit, we didn't actually get to take a proper look around there, but we do hope to return some time, to do it all over again.
One morning I walked to the Shower Block to be greeted by the most amazing bird murmuration - it probably happens every day, but what a beautiful sight it was - and for a few minutes I was mesmerised by it. The swirl of the birds in flight, as one, was fantastic. Couldn't have timed it better if I'd tried!!
