Hostess (LORRAINE) was very very helpful and welcoming and went beyond to make sure our stay was great. The site was extremely well kept and well run with clean facilities. Our pitch was level wth views across the farmland which we enjoyed immensely. During our stay we managed to see wildlife we didnt expect such as Oyster catches, Avercets, Deers, Hedgehog, Hares n Rabbits, Buzzards and birds I cant name. There are some excellent walks and cycling to be done in the area.

Lovely little grass only site, with EHU, toilets and showers in a very quiet, peaceful location.
The pitch was flat, well drained and the grass kept reasonably short.
Other reviewers have claimed the toilets and showers were not clean but our experience was that they were kept very well indeed.
The owner is very friendly and along with her collie Beau, visited everyone on the site everyday to ensure we were all ok and happy. She was also very efficient in responding to text messages.

No site is perfect and Haugh Rigg Farm does have a couple of minor set backs.
The biggest is probably that there are no bins provided so you have to take your rubbish home with you. In fairness, for a weekend away such as ours, this wasn't a huge hardship and there is a note in the toilets saying that for longer stays rubbish removal can be arranged in advance.
I personally would like to see a separate grey waste disposal point instead of sharing the chemical toilet point. Again, to be totally fair, I looked for one and couldn't see one, but I never asked.
The access road up to the site is not the best. This is of course not the site owner's fault, I wouldn't ever expect her to pay to upgrade half a mile of road! But it is bumpy and very narrow and does have some very short but steep climbs. Even with a 2 tonne caravan on the back, our Discovery had no issues but it may be a point to consider for some others.
Given that the pitches are simple grass with EHU, we thought that the £26 a night we were charged was slightly on the high side.
The only final point I would make is with regards to the owner's dog. Beau is a very friendly, easy going dog and our schnauzer, who can be a pain with bigger dogs, got along with him fine. However, he is off lead and happily comes to visit you and other dogs fairly regularly, so if your dog is quite reactive, you may want to let the owner know beforehand.

First visit here and was really happy we chose to come here for small break. Located a couple of miles outside of pickering so the location is fantastic for easy access into the surrounding areas of this. The site its self is almost tranquil really really quiet and picturesque. Plenty of birds and wildlife for company, you're surrounded by veiws of fields running in to the distance. Toilets and showers are clean, an area of BBQ's you can borrow if you want to, also the nice touch of an outside fridge filled with some essentials if you need these with a honesty box to pay for them. The owner was lovley and polite, she daily asked if everything was ok and that we were happy. We will most definitely be returning here so would highly recommend a visit.

The site is very quite clean and everything you need with no passing traffic , Lorraine the owner made us very welcome and we felt really comfortable on the site . All the little extras like the ice packs and drinks available with a honesty box are a extra bonus.
Cannot recommend this site enough as we have been travelling the uk for 2 months and this is the most comfortable site we have been on and is very dog friendly .

Lorraine, the host, and her dog welcomed us upon arrival, which was lovely. She advised us of some good walks and pubs nearby. I loved the fact that our, well-behaved, dogs were allowed off their leads. This was very freeing. It was extremely peaceful with beautiful surroundings. No traffic sound at all. The toilets and showers were clean and not far to walk to. We will definitely be coming back.

A beautiful site. Nice, laid back, quiet and very well cared for campsite with clean amenities. Lorraine and her beautiful dog Bo were lovely and really helpful explaining the walking routes around the area. The area itself is beautiful. We walked 4 miles into Pickering from the site, which was straightforward walk, with locely scenery. Some great extras were, being able to buy cold drinks, logs and kindling for the fire, bricks available to raise fires and BBQs. I noticed she had even kept spare BBQs available for people to use. Truely exceptional stay, will definitely stay here again.

Beautiful quiet surroundings, great walks for dogs and their owners. Great host who visits campers everyday. We loved that we could put our caravan anywhere, facing any direction we wanted, on the well kept grass pitches.

Would love to see some upgrades to the bathroom/shower facilities. Plus, when the site became busier there was difficulty accommodating everyone especially first thing in the morning.
