I don’t go camping ever, I was just looking for a quiet weekend in nature with my dog and Archer’s Meadow Glamping did not disappoint.
The cabin was warm, clean, and well stocked. It was more luxurious than most hotels I’ve stayed in!
The bathroom was immaculate with a good pressure shower. Clean/fluffy towels, wonderful shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. The bed was comfortable, if a little firm. Plenty of pillows and extra throw blankets to hand. The kitchen was stocked with the essentials and a few extras like milk/coffee/tea. Everything was clean and easy to use. There was plenty of space for me and my Labrador to relax and move around. I enjoyed sitting on the couch with a view out the glass doors of a rolling countryside. It was very peaceful at my time of visiting. The porch was gorgeously situated to have a view of the sunrise in the mornings. Bring some stargazing kit if you can because the view of the sky at night is insane. I didn’t use the fire facilities because it was damp when I visited (mid feb), but they appeared well maintained.
I found the wifi to be excellent, but I don’t think there were many guests during my stay so I couldn’t say what it would be like height of summer with a full camp.
There isn’t much in the village outside of a few DELICIOUS restaurants, but the mere is the place to be! An easy/direct, 25 minute walk from the campsite. It had a beautiful path around the mere (studded with bits of local art), an amazing kids park, a place to feed swans/ducks/geese, and a dog friendly restaurant right on the water called The Boathouse. Wonderful service, delicious food, and possibly the best mocha I’ve ever had.
All I wanted was a quiet weekend, no stress, walking my dog and reading a book; and this place gave me all that. I always felt safe and relaxed. I plan on booking another trip here in one of the bigger cabins and bringing my husband and daughter along!
