Nem kedvelték: On arrival we were given our pitch on touring site and told by reception they were busy with long term stays. The hardstanding pitch was tiny and covered in moss. When we got to pitch we saw it was busy with sign marked vans and contractors. There was also the obligatory tree surgeon vans. It wasn't an inviting scene and we did not stop and drove out. A motorway service station car park would be more appealing.
I am sorry you felt you had to leave without returning to the office or taking your dog for a walk to enjoy the Kent countryside on offer directly from the pitches.
The hardstanding pitches are set to be re-done in due course.
During off peak/low season our policy is different to other seasons and we have 4 pitches available for contractors who are working locally and 1 tree surgeon. They are out all day and park their vans next to their caravans after work and weekends. They and our other long stay guests are respectful of the campsite and all guests staying here whether short or long term.
Needs the manager to spend some money to make it an all year site.

- I know this niggle could be down to other campers but often the shower cubicles were quite muddy - possibly more cleaning or if the roads / paths were upgraded the issue wouldn't occur in the first instance
- our pitch was right next to where they were doing works so the workmen were churning the grass and mud right by our van so made it harder to get around as well.
- walk way to the toilets flooded as well after a storm so better drainage around the toilets is needed. The path was very slippery after this as well from all the mud

Nem kedvelték: Not the campsites fault but a huge RV parked next to us left their hose connected to the shared tap the whole evening/morning and started up a generator at 08:10 and left it running until we left, 09:30 . I'd have reported it but the office didn't open until 9 and it was blooming cold January 16/17th.
Thank you for choosing to stay with us especially during such a cold spell. I am sorry about the hose being connected the whole time as two pitches are supposed to share the tap and hoses should be removed when water tanks have been filled. Generators are not permitted on site and as they had electric it is strange they should even bring one with them.
The out of hours number is printed on the front of your check-in cards which can be used when the office is closed.
We look forward to your next visit, hopefully the weather will be better.

Toilet/shower block having combination locks were inconvenient and imo pointless. Toilets and showers were dirty (but again the site was muddy so expected). No heating in the toilet/shower block, so it was freezing. Non of the soap dispensers in the toilet worked.

There is a code on the toilets and showers which prevents the general public from using them. We were not made aware of the soap dispensers not working and will get these looked at.

I am sorry you did not enjoy your 1 night stay.
As we have direct access to the river the code on the door to the toilet/shower block is to prevent the public from using them.
When you book it does state "Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit".The field you were on have low lying lights which are on from dusk until dawn and there are lights by the washing up sinks and outside the toilet/shower block which are on permanently.
I will pass on your comment to the manager regarding there not being a footpath to the bridge.
Great little place , will come back in better weather !!

There are hair dryers in the ladies wooden block which is the only block open.
To use your own hair dryer as staying on an electric pitch you would have had to use your socket in your campervan.

I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay at the campsite.
There are plans to improve the hardstanding making it longer and wider to avoid stepping on muddy grass. There has been a lot of rain the last few weeks making the whole of the campsite including the fields for walking through extremely muddy.
There are also plans to hopefully put heating in the shower blocks, however many guests staying in motorhomes and caravans have their own facilities.
When looking to book on Pitchup under the "Please Note " section it states "Throughout the year large events take place and the site is open to the general public".
The circus(out the front,not on the campsite)were here during the February school holidays and they had a show at 7pm the day you arrived and the following days of your stay either 2 or 3 shows 11am,2pm and 5pm.
Perhaps you would have enjoyed your stay if it had been better weather and during term time.
