After a 9 hour drive from Hampshire, we arrived and were met by Andy who was extremely helpful and friendly. The site is small and well maintained and away from the mainstream areas, yet only 6.5 miles from Wasdale Head if you fancy a look at Scafell Pike or a visit to the smallest church in England. Site amenities are more than adequate and clean and WiFi works well if you require Internet access. The showers cost 50p for 10 minutes which is money well spent as they are powerful and hot. The Bridge Inn is a 3 minute walk across the river and serves decent food and liquid refreshments at similar prices to those in the New Forest. A nice quiet site with a lovely river running along the edge, away from the maddening crowds which we will definitely use again on our next visit to the Lakes. Well worth the trip.

The pitch was excellent with beautiful scenery and walks. The facilities very clean and we had a friendly welcome.

No WiFi and no ariel coverage 😕 we like to watch a film later at night but after failed attempts unable to get the smart tv working, first time this has happened as we have travelled to Cumbria on several different sites. We will definitely go again but take a DVD player.

The Bridge Inn food was amazing (hubby was pleased it also had football - little booths with individual screens and low volume so others are not disturbed - nothing like a football pub, just had the option :)

Clean toilets and showers - yes they are dated but absolutely clean - nothing to stop us returning
Wifi intermittent but hey look where you are!

The river is lovely and the pub right next to it was nice. Great location to scarfell pike and the deepest lake in the uk. The guy looking after the site was very friendly.

Nothing

Our favourite campsite yet! And we’ve visited more than a few.
Friendly staff, second to none views & surroundings, peaceful & picturesque.
The facilities are spotless & the grounds well kept.
We stayed 4 nights & just didn’t want to leave.
The pub next door is a bonus too.

The location was perfect for us we went kayaking at Wast Waters and ate at the local pub just 1 minute walk away.
The toilets, showers & cleaning facilities were all of good standard and regularly cleaned during our visit.
The site was quiet with plenty of different pitch sizes to choose from.

Some of the roads surrounding the site are very narrow and potentially not suitable for a caravan.
