The bad bits.
The main shower block was rundown and now stands derelict. So 2 porta-cabins are there temporarily until they rebuild the toilet and shower block. These porta-cabins are not adequate when the site gets busy. Also during my stay of 16 nights they were only cleaned once. So the smell of ammonia was overpowering on hot days. They were checked about once a day, just not cleaned. Some times they were not checked for 2 to 4 days. I photographed the checklist.
There are several dog poo bins dotted around the site. These were not emptied the entire stay. So flies and smell was becoming unpleasant. Also previous guests had put general waste in them. This is how I knew they hadn't been emptied.
There were many rabbits on site. I actually enjoyed seeing them. Just dogs and rabbits don't always mix. Also the rabbit burrows are undermining the site. Luckily my dog also enjoyed watching them and didn't try to eat them.
We had 3 nights of antisocial behaviour from a group of campers. The last night of their stay the police were called by other guests. There is no security on site, no staff walking around, so that needs attention, as the antisocial guests abused other guests. I know it happens and you always get them.
From my observations the maintenance team were not doing their jobs properly. As bins not emptied, grass not cut, toilets not maintained. As I said if they get their act together it would be a very pleasant site.
The little lake/Loch needs some attention as left to get overgrown. It is a lovely area for an evening walk for the dog before bed.
The pitches are on a slope, this will cause problems for some, as not ideal
I wouldn't recommend to any one with mobility issues or friends. Although I would go back to see if things have improved. The staff are all friendly. Then if procedures are implemented I would recommend it
