This is our second visit to the old stables, we even had exactly the same spacious pitch as last year :) I can’t recommend it enough if you just want a calm and relaxing place to stay (yes you can hear the road occasionally but we live on a noisy road so this was quieter than home so not a problem for us!)
The showers and toilet areas are always spotlessly clean and no matter what time of day we showered there was always hot water. The washing up area also always had hot water at all times.
The coffee cake from the office is delicious, I even managed to get a slice for the drive home.
They also have a breakfast van on site opened on selected days, I can only comment on the cappuccino’s I brought as I didn’t purchase food but it was very nice and hot and very reasonably priced.

There is also an open top bus that will stop outside the gate if you don’t wish to walk on the road. Details of the timetable is available in the office.

This would have ensured the barrel was dry and sealed for the subsequent guests and prevented a late night call to inform us that the barrel was leaking. The outcome of which was the guests were moved to an empty shepherds hut, their wet laundry washed and dried and the barrel was dried out and made water tight.
