We went down to the toilets and the smell was horrendous. The irony was that they were perfectly clean so must have been the drains or something. As others have noted, no paper towels or anyway to fry your hands. The toilets are only open for a few hours each day and then it’s a portaloo, we couldn’t see one in the field we were in.
Luckily managed to find another place to stay so didn’t stay overnight. If we were in our 20s I’m sure it would have been ok but with a young family it just wasn’t for us.

As I'm sure readers will see in the hundreds of other reviews, we run a site where staff are friendly and approachable - there was only one other review in 3 years that gave a negative comment about our staff and it referred to me after I cautioned a camper about the tone he was speaking to me. So I refute your 3rd party representation - we worked very hard all weekend to keep campers moving (for free) - we laughed with most and gave advice where we thought it could have avoided people being stuck.
A very interesting statistic from the weekend, following 2 weeks on intensive rain and a 3 days of heavy showers, only 1 lady driver needed pulling out......versus 15 male drivers.
To your wider point of "not for for purpose." Since 2020 we have hosted approx 5,000 pitch bookings and almost 15,000 visitors. More than 30% of our campers are repeat customers, so others will judge whether your views are valid.
Finally, your comments regarding toilets. If you were in a field with no toilet - you were in the wrong place. Thank you for recognising that they were perfectly clean. There were no paper towels because we got sick of people putting them down the toilets and blocking them (despite numerous signs and toilet roll in abundance). The toilets were open from 0730-2230 every day. The reason that we close them at night is because they get damaged and broken when they are left open at night and notwithstanding the cost of repairing them, they aren't available for campers the next morning. With regard to the smell, with the best will in the world, we can't control who you follow into the toilet.
