Very nice campsite. The grass pitch was perfect. Shower and toilet blocks are clean, hot shower and never get too busy. The restaurant is amazing.

Beautiful Surroundings and well kept site there were a lot of tourers on site and it was quite busy but everything was well organised and kept nice.

There is a nice variety of guest vendors in the engine shed over the week, we sampled the pizzas and they were nice and well priced.

The main facilities are lovely, clean , hot water a plenty and well looked after.

There is access via some very steep steps to the river which was a lovely break for my teenager and cocker spaniel in the intense heat we had.

There are some lovely views and wildlife at the Park, we often saw rabbits running about happily of an evening. The surrounding area is beautiful and the town is only a short walk away.

The pitch we were on ( c9) backed onto the water source and camping toilets/showers and a lot of campers were very inconsiderate when using these at gone midnight and from 5am very loudly despite us being a couple of feet away trying to sleep. The same with allowing their children to run around and behind our tents well after dark, spooking our dog, much later than quiet time.

The camping toilets and showers weren't the nicest or cleanest so we walked down to the main block instead.

On the Thursday evening, what seemed like locals youngsters ( around 30 or so) celebrating their a level results came to the gardeb bar area, they were very rowdy and their language was appalling, to a point we moved tables to the other side of the garden area.

Drinks in the bar were very expensive.

The whole site is clean and fresh, well-looked after and inviting. The Engine Shed is a great way to unwind without going far, particularly after a long road trip. The market town of Kirkby Stephen is a short walk either across the fields or along the footpath by the main road. Camping on the site of the old railway sidings adds a delightful link with the past. Access to the River Eden, and a beautiful stretch of that river as it tumbles through the rock formations created over millions of years provides another connection with an even more ancient link to the past. A great place to stop and relax.

Very friendly welcome, level pitch. 10 minute walk into the village. Lots of info available at reception. Dog walking field accessed from the site and a great circular walk along the viaducts. Site was very quiet at night, facilities very clean and possibly the hottest showers I've experienced on a site! WiFi was good, small site but very organised.

Not really a dislike, but our pitch was right next to the Engine Shed 'pub'. Whilst that gave great access to the loos 24/7, it was also fairly noisy. To be expected at peak season in beautiful weather. This also meant less privacy as the outdoor seating was right outside our van. I suspect if you were aware of this, you would request alternative pitches if you wanted to. That said, the bar was closed at 10pm and people had left by 10.40, so this is clearly monitored.
