The staff are very rude and told us they wouldn’t help as we had booked on pitch up. Told we could not pitch together as pitch up had not told them about the request and they were fully booked. We then spent 5 days of our 7 day holiday with empty pitches next to us and about a 40% full site. Pitch up have since sent me the confirmation sent to the site with the request shown. The staff told us we should not have booked with pitch up and it was our fault for not using their own system.
I was sent an email to book activities and when I looked there was nothing available to book. The staff told us that the static caravans get first option for booking, then people who booked with them and last people who booked with pitch up. So we had no activities available to us for booking.
We managed to get into the pool twice by just turning up for a session and then ended up booking a pool at Yarmouth. We booked this site for the pool and it turned out to be a waste of time. Also the indoor pool is not close and you have to cross a road with people speeding up and down it.
The on site shop is awful so don’t waste your time with it.
We had some rain and at times it was heavy but I wouldn’t say it was too bad. However 90% of the pitches flooded and had standing water on them for days. Most people in tents gave up and went home. Also the pitches are mainly mud and you can see this if you look on the google satellite maps.
The site itself is like two completely different sites (static and touring). The static site is lovely, with proper roads, parking, green grass, no mud, lovely trees and hedges. The touring site is like an apocalyptic land in comparison. The roads are mud with massive potholes and so much standing water you might as well use them as a pool. The pitches are uneven, bumpy, muddy and have a tendency to flood. Also the power is limited to 10A.
You are treated like you are not wanted there in a tourer. So much so they have a sign as you leave the pitches to get you to sell your caravan and buy a static.
We use pitch up for 90% of our holidays and they are normally amazing. But this is one to avoid as the site just doesn’t want you there. We tried being reasonable with the staff, offered to pay to be pitched next to each other and still got nowhere. I really do feel that the staff completely ruined our holiday with our friends and families. It actually felt vindictive to see an empty site for most of our holiday and not be able to be next to our friends.
Also it is worth noting that we looked at the reviews before we booked. We noticed that some were like us and some were saying how good it is. We found very little form the positive reviews to be true and have been questioning how true they are.
On a final note we tried and tried to find a way to resolve what happened. At the very least find away to stop it happening to others. All that we got was the site blaming pitch up and pitch up blaming the site. No one wants to take any responsibility and pitch up takes over a week to get a reply.
