The wilderness aspect was just stunning, a real chance to enjoy all the best things about camping.
Spotted 2 deer crashing through the woods about 10m away from us 🤣, listening to all the birds in the afternoon, owls in the evening, seeing bats in the dusk. This place is a total gem!

A aimé Amazing if you love being in such a child out relaxing space ! We had a lovely spot set up 3 hammocks fire going and kids loved it also , no frills granted but just how we like it ! So good that we are going back and most likely be regular now we found it ! Also the hosts couldn’t be more friendly and helpful thank you so much ! We wish life didn’t get in the way and just live there 😂

A aimé Fantastic site if you want to do something different. There are a number of pitches of varying distances from the path that runs down the middle. We chose one of the most remote, and it was great - camping in a little glade (plenty of room for 2 x 3 man tents) with no-one else within sight. Really peaceful, saw a deer in the woods on the way to the loo.
They provide firepits, logs and firelighters for a tenner, there's a composting loo, sinks for washing up, even a warm shower. Everything you need. 2 mins walk takes you out into playing fields with a small playground for the kids.
Great communication from the owner as well, and all for a bargain price. Really loved this site and will definitely go back.

A aimé Everything, we had such a great time here at Howard’s wood. Loved the fact that you can park next to your pitch and are still in the woods. Pitches are well spaced and nice plots. You have the option to rent fire pits and bags of wood for a really reasonable price. Compost toilet, shower and washing facilities provided along with complimentary coffee and essentials at this location. Steph, the host, was absolutely amazing and ensured we had the perfect stay here at Howard’s wood. We will certainly be returning!

Great, feels like wild camping without worry of being moved on.

A aimé Everything.. great place.. owners have done a fab job at keeping it feeling like your wild camping.. very quiet site as pitches are not on top of each other. All basic amenities, toilets, shower and washing area. Campfires allowed and they even give you logs to burn free of charge.. local park with football pitch, climbing frame, swings and zip line. will definitely be back!!

A aimé Absolutely lovely forest camping experience! Probably the best campsite I've been to. If you like rustic and wild this is for you. Still lovely hot shower to be had and the composting toilets are a lot more hygienic than many sites I've been to. Showers/washing are up by plot 24 which took a little investigation to find.
Nice pub down the road and a playing field with a little play park for the kids right next door. Perfect.
N'a pas aimé Minor niggle is we had to take our rubbish with us but for the price it's really not a complaint.

A aimé Enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the woods, and lots of long walks in the near by countryside (and to Bridport / Beaminster / Pub). Also enjoyed some delicious meals in Bridport (Soul Shine Cafe) and Beaminster (Brassica)
N'a pas aimé nettles! brambles! story of next door neighbour at the campsite who had unexplained gashes made in their tent in the middle of the night!

A aimé Wonderful camp site. The pitches are set up very nicely in the forest and everyone was really friendly. The amenities are great (shower, compost toilet, wash up anrea with hot water and logs to buy for camp fire) and the price for what you get is very good.

Stephanie was a fab host and was very good getting us some eggs which we were really looking forward to (and enjoyed!)
