Great little site, ideally placed to explore Bude and the coast

Jul 2026

Liked Beautifully kept grounds, palm trees everywhere and great views of the surrounding hills. The toilets were kept very clean and the facilities were all as advertised. There were quite a few staff and everyone was friendly. Easy to book. Although most pitches were on a slope my campervan's ramps made sure we could be level for sleeping.

Disliked I thought the wall of CCTV monitors that greets you on arrival was little over the top for a simple Cornish camp-site.

A well run, friendly and picturesque camp-site, highly recomended.

Liked The surrounding countryside, the tranquility, the cleanliness, friendliness of all the staff, the super clean facilities and the proximity to the beach.

Disliked Most of the pitches are not level, so remember to bring your ramps. Apart from that, nothing else!

Will definately return to this one!

Apr 2024

Liked The quietness, the views, the location, the facilities (spotless, modern, and plenty of them, there's even a kettle and a washing machine), ease of booking in (basically you turn up and start enjoying your holiday immeadiately), the size of the site (small but perfectly formed), the communal fire-pits and the electric hookup. It's a very quiet, freindly and relaxing place. The pub is reachable on foot and there are goats and chickens on site as well as bats and owls at night. Wonderful.

Large holiday park with extensive facilities and its own beach.

Jun 2023

Liked As soon as you arrive you know you're somewhere special. My visit began with a warm welcome and easy check-in from the security guard (just what you need after a long hot drive!) and the best information pack I've ever seen. Colour maps, shop opening times, entertainment timetable and fish and chip shop menu- and like the site's rules, clearly written and understandable. The only information I couldn't find was the check-out times (it was 10am for camper vans). The big draw for me was how close the beach was, it's literally minutes away from your pitch and the sea quality was good. The sea was already warm enough to swim in comfortably and you don't have to walk miles to get to the water! I'd highly recommend this park for coeliacs especially, there are lots of gluten-free options everywhere and the fish and chips tasted so amazing I had them twice. I noticed they used a totally separate area for cooking my fish too. There is a well stocked shop that doesn't rip you off, a large clubhouse and a couple of restaurants (which I didn't use but looked popular). The beach is pebbly, so best bring flip-flops or similar. The cliffs and rocks are spectacular and you can easily hire kayaks, paddle boards or even motor boats from the friendly beach shack guys. There's plenty to do for families and couples alike and dogs were welcome (but not on the beach). The site gets fairly steep (I was right at the top) but I felt much fitter after my stay! Most pitches seemed to have a good view of the sea, and all had their own water supply and electrical hook-up and were totally level. The walk to Budleigh Salterton is beautiful and took me a couple of hours (approx 3.75 miles) but take plenty of water in this weather as there's not much shade en-route. The site was really quiet at night too and the facilities excellent and spotless. To top it all, there's crazy golf, an amusement arcade and a swimming pool What's not to like? Winner!

Disliked Nothing.

From the manager: What an amazing set of photos and a fantastic, perfect score, thank you so much. It sounds, and looks, like you made good use of all that Ladram has to offer. We do hope that you come back and visit us again soon. Kind Regards Aimee and the Ladram Bay team

Lovely

Jun 2023

Liked The location is stunning, sitting high above Branscombe bay with various views of the sea. The facilities are clean, easy to use and basic in design. The showers were hot and nicely powerful. We parked at the back of the site, which meant we got to chat to nearly everyone on site when we needed to use the facilities - it was really nice vibe and everyone was really friendly - especially along our back row, made some good friends there. (Mack, if you're reading this, let me know!) Adrian was accommodating and helpful, and quite determined in his ways, but with no bad intention. We had a chat with the owner who told us all the history of the site which has been a site since pre WW2. Overall it was a great stay. The site is basic, doesn't pretend to be anything else, but it was well beyond our expectations. Branscombe/Vicarage village is stunning, the Masons Arms is beautiful and everyone was so welcoming and chatty. Branscombe beach is like the setting for Jurassic Park, it's just breathtaking and gets better as you walk along towards the Pinacles. Beer is proper picture postcard, but neither places are overrun with holiday lets, and maintain lively communities. The walk from Beer over the cliffs to Branscombe is quite something - you'd be brave to go the other direction!

Disliked It's worth knowing that the site does allow off ground fires but doesn't hire out pits of sell fuel. There's an Esso garage a 2 minute drive up the road at Seaton tower that sells fuel and kindling and it's reasonably priced. The owner has very good reasons for not having a shop on site, but between the Esso garage and the village shop (and offy) in Beer, both a couple of minutes drive from the site, it's easy to get supplies.

Scenic views, good value, and relaxed vibe

Aug 2022

Liked We camped opposite a beautiful view of the Purbeck Hills on this back to basics site. The owner was very friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. The walk into Swanage wasn't too far and the local area features stunning scenery. As we were only staying for two nights we didn't miss the showers at all, and this was reflected in the price, which was very reasonable compared to some places we've stayed at recently. Swanage itself was amazing, such a relaxed atmosphere, scenic views, the sea was warm and full of people, it seemed to have it all! Everything was very peaceful in the evenings and the sky was starry. You can hear the vintage railway train puffing past. I can't wait to go back to this site.

Disliked A main road runs past one part of the site. Further down the field was quieter.

This very scenic camp site is…

Aug 2022

Liked This very scenic camp site is located a 40 minute walk from the stunning Hive beach. The walk itself takes in a huge corn field, beautiful woodland and some sixteenth century cottages. Perfect! The site also has its own shady woodland walks, a dog exercising meadow and access to a small river. Wild flowers and butterflies are everywhere and birds of prey hover overhead. The nearest pub was busy and friendly, does great food and cider and is about 30 minutes walk away. You turn up, enter a code into the barrier and drive to your (well sign-posted) field and pitch up where you like (within reason). It was so simple, I wonder why other camp-sites make it so complicated. I didn't speak to a member of staff the whole time I was there, but I didn't need to - and I personally liked the "hands-off" approach. We were left to enjoy our stay in peace, and we did! In our field, it seemed like lights out was around 10 to 10:30. To be honest, as fires are not allowed there's not much to do after dark. Just as well as the weather was so hot and sunny, you wanted to be up early to get down the beach! An honourable mention must go to the shower, toilet and washing up block - even the Hotel Inspector wouldn't have found anything to complain about! It was all spotless. I'd come back here, its got a bit of everything.

Great sea view and a relaxed atmosphere

Sept 2021

Liked This quiet, friendly and efficiently run site was a delight to stay at. It's big draw for me was the view, which on a nice day is most impressive. If its hazy, there's sometimes an optical illusion where the boats look like they're floating in mid air. The site is run by really lovely people and they are only a phone call away if you need anything. The walk to the beach takes in some wonderful woodland and fields, and certainly upped my fitness levels (it seemed a bit of a trek at first but we managed to walk back by torchlight one night and it only took us 42 minutes). The facilities were absolutely fine for a camp-site and the soft Cornish water was lovely in the shower. Sitting round the camp fire and looking at the stars takes some beating. This is the perfect place to do it. Highly recommended.

Disliked I'd recommend ear plugs if you're camping near the top part of the field as the farm animals can be a little noisy first thing in the morning!

Peaceful back to basics site with a great view

Aug 2021

Liked I seek out camp-sites such as this. It's quite small and the owners keep the numbers relatively low, so it's just so......relaxing!!!! Just lying under the trees looking down on Exeter in the distance, listening to the wind and enjoying good company. It's a perfect place to unwind. I like the off-grid approach when it's done like this - hot showers, fresh water and great toilets. Its not 5 star accommodation, but you can see a lot of stars at night. I saw the most intense blood moon over Exeter on our first night. The communal fire-pit is a wonderful place to spend the evening, but you can always have one of your own if you fancy, and there's always plenty of good firewood (and fresh eggs) available. You pay by honesty box. It's that sort of place. There's even a taxi service into town and back! The camp-site is run by lovely people. They can't do enough to help you and make you feel welcome. I'd recommend this site to people who want to unwind, relax, meet great people and live a simple existence for a few days. I probably wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking to have lots of facilities on hand (e.g. the shop isn't just round the corner and the hot tub is an old bath the sheep try and roll down the hill).

Reset yourself in this stunning back to nature campsite

Apr 2021

Liked This beautiful family run site is huge so it's easy to find a spot away from others if you so desire. The stunning location is full of rolling hills, a picturesque river, fields with horses galloping around, sheep, and lines of gorgeous trees. The laid back atmosphere is obvious the moment you arrive, booking in is easy and you can camp pretty much wherever you like. You're given a map on arrival which shows you the few locations where you're not allowed plus the locations of the facilities and water taps etc. After five days we had only explored half the site! We arrived very early in the season, our field only had one other person in it and it really felt like "wild camping". The night sky has no light pollution so each night it was full of stars. An amazing sight. The only sound at night was the river slowly flowing past outside. There were even lambs to pet. I highly recommend this site if you like relaxing out in nature, long walks in rolling hills and watching the stars round a fire-pit. (I can't comment on the facilities as these were closed during our visit due to covid restrictions.)

Disliked The nearest shop wasn't very well stocked (it's a petrol station shop) - not a fault of the camp-site obviously. Some of the farm tracks are a bit bumpy if you've got a low-slung car.

Just the tonic if you need peace and relaxation

Sept 2020

Liked Our second time at Bredy Farm and it was just as good as the first. Everything is relaxed and informal, the location very peaceful and the owners friendly. There's virtually no road noise and on a clear night you can really appreciate the stars. Lots of fire-pits around and strong cider available - so be careful! We met some wonderful people on the site and as you walk round everyone smiles and chats. It's like being in a little slice of heaven. The bigger field was virtually empty (apart from a buzzard) so you could almost be on your own if you wanted. This time, we also managed to walk into the village and to the beach by finding an almost hidden path through the fields. It didn't seem as far as when we drove there. I really like this place.

The setting is amazing, high up…

Sept 2020

Liked The setting is amazing, high up overlooking Exeter, particularly enchanting with a clear night when the city sparkles. Syd and Rupert couldn't have made us feel more at home and the peace, tranquility and ease that they and the site exuded was most refreshing. It is inspiring to see how innovation, vision and determination translate into an entirely off-grid, solar site - it can be done, and it is a valuable asset to the community. It offers a chance to experience a moment of life in a more natural, organic and considered way. The bathroom facilities were clean and clear information was posted throughout re: Covid, and Syd and Rupert were accessible, without being at all intrusive. Simon's services with his campsite Taxi were so much appreciated. Looking forward to coming back soon.

Nice site, would visit again.

Sept 2020

Liked A warm welcome, and a cosy, intimate site nestled in beautiful, rolling hills. The site is impeccably clean, well thought and laid out with levelled, sizeable grass pitches. It is a very peaceful environment, and Matt and his family create a very easy going experience, nothing is too much trouble for them, which makes staying there very relaxing. The farmhouse sits at one corner the site and with the Goats, Alpacas, Chickens and Horse roaming in one half, the site is very much part of the farm, not separate. The facilities were very well maintained, with clear, visible safety Covid prevention information and planning.. The fire pit facility and supplies were really good for the chilly nights. Really looking forward to returning.

A little tase of paradise in Dorset

Jul 2020

Liked Very easy to book. Beautiful location set in quiet countryside with rolling hills, a babbling brook and lovely farmyard buildings. You can camp under the protection of trees if you want. Liked the fact the camp-site was separate to the restaurant / bar area. Appreciated the adults only policy and found the site relaxing, very quiet and laid back. Allowing the use of fire pits was a big bonus and we really enjoyed our evening round the fire, watching the other campers around theirs. The grounds were very well kept. Importantly, all instructions concerning corona virus measures were clear and comprehensive. (Hand sanitisers, signage etc.) The view of the stars at night is amazing. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. I thought the price was very reasonable.
