Non-electric grass motorhome pitch
Liked Beautiful setting with amazing views. Lots of footpaths to explore direct from the site. A friendly welcome from the owners, despite the dreadful weather on my arrival. Facilities were basic but perfectly adequate. I definitely didn’t see the site at its best because of the weather, but it’s a lovely spot and I would stay here again.

Non-electric grass and earth campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch (wild)
Liked Very spacious and peaceful on the ‘wild’ pitches - large pitches so it didn’t feel busy even during the week running up to the bank holiday. Great walking direct from the site and lovely views all round. Friendly, helpful staff who went out of their way to make me feel welcome. Thank you, I enjoyed my stay :)
Disliked I felt the site was a little overpriced, especially when factoring in an additional £3 per night for the dog! Although I chose to pitch on the ‘wild’ pitches, I do think it would be fairer to make these pitches slightly cheaper given they are a long way from the amenities and less well maintained that the regular pitches.

From the manager: Hi Debbie Thank you for your review! Its lovely to hear that you enjoyed your stay here! ...but sad to see that you won't be coming back - even though you enjoyed it here. The 'wild pitches' are called 'wild pitches' because they are a little further away (maybe an extra minute's walk to the showers & toilets) and a little 'wilder' than the others! I know a some of our guests much prefer the wilder pitches so they can have a bit more solitude and/or escape the busier, family areas. Regarding the dog charge, I've checked quite a few other pitch-up sites and £3 per night for a dog was the cheapest I could find, with some sites charging up to £10/night, so I think £3/night is a fair charge for now - and we have free dog treats and free poo bags too! Non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch (maximum 6 metres)
Liked Really friendly owners, who were attentive and helpful. And I loved having a firepit. The site is well situated for walking. Although the site was pretty busy the weekend I was there, it was generally quiet on the site, and the facilities were clean.

Non-electric grass touring pitch
Liked I spent a happy couple of days on this site, and found the owners to be very friendly and helpful. The facilities are basic, but clean, and in keeping with the site's eco ethos, which I liked. Even though I was staying over the bank holiday weekend, it wasn't noisy or crowded. Very reasonably priced site :)
Disliked More an observation than a criticism. The site is just off an A-road, and although it wasn't particularly noisy or intrusive, it did mean I couldn't find walks to do directly from the site. There are loads of walking routes around, but you seem to have to drive to get onto any footpaths, which for me was a bit of a disappointment. But that's not the site's fault at all!

From the manager: Thank you for your review and glad you enjoyed your stay. Unfortunately we aren't directly next to any walking routes but we do have 92 acres for campers to wander round in. But if you do want that longer walk, there are a few lovely places that do require a small drive in your vehicle. Best wishes, Stacey & the Westdown team

Electric hardstanding touring pitch
Liked I received a warm welcome on arrival at the site, and found everyone to be very helpful. Although the site was busy, being the school holidays, it wasn't noisy, and there was a friendly atmosphere. It was also very dog-friendly :)
The site is in a lovely, wooded and sheltered spot, which was welcome on hot days. Facilities on site were very clean, and the showers were fab!
Disliked The pitches were a little small, and when they were all full it did feel a bit cramped. However, I was staying at the busiest time of the year, and it wasn't a major problem. It would have been nice if there had been more information about local walks, being in such a beautiful area.

Electric grass and gravel pitch
Liked The staff were so friendly and helpful, and made me (and my dog!) very welcome. They've not been there that long, but are obviously making many improvements to the site, with nice thoughtful touches.
The site was well maintained, and facilities were spotless, and far exceeded my expectations. It's a small site, so not too busy even through it was peak season. The area itself was great for walks, and they have a great dog walking field adjacent to the site (though this is going to be developed, which is a shame, but understandable).
I would definitely stay on the site again. Thank you :)
Disliked The site is situated on a fairly busy road, so there was some traffic noise - nothing to be done about it, and it wasn't a massive problem, but it's worth noting.
My pitch was right next to their caravan storage area, and there did seem to be quite a bit of manoeuvring going on over the couple of days I was there, which was a little annoying, due to the noise around my pitch and the smell of diesel from the tractor used to move the caravans around. Not a big deal, but it did go on a bit!

From the manager: Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. It was lovely to meet you and Eddie. We take on board your comments about moving caravans - it's a necessary evil I'm afraid especially at busy times. We hope to see you and the lovely Eddie again when our new development is done and promise there will still be plenty of room for doggie walking!

Electric grass touring pitch
Liked When I arrived, a wedding was about to take place in the barn on site. My allocated pitch became somewhat overrun by cars from people attending the reception. The owner was very accommodating in finding an alternative pitch, and I ended up - thanks also to the very lovely Caravan & Camping Club rally members - in a very quiet field.
The facilities were clean, pitches level. The site is dog friendly, and there are some nice walks from the site :)
Disliked The wedding could have been a problem with the music and number of guests, though I understand they don't happen often.

Liked Thank you to Adam and Kirsty for providing such a warm welcome, and for being so helpful during my brief weekend stay. The site and facilities were clean and tidy. A beautiful part of the world, and considering it was bank holiday weekend, it was very peaceful - just what I needed to relax and recharge! Lots of places to walk my dog too :) Hope to see you again, Debbie.
Disliked The light in the shower is on a sensor, and while showering the light kept turning off which was a bit disconcerting!
