Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Location: 20 minutes from Shrewsbury and 20 minutes from Welshpool and Powis Castle.
Facilities: toilet block and excellent showers. Kitchen area. The halfway house takeaway does amazing fish and chips (it's just at the end of the drive).
Pitches: we were the only ones there for two of the nights (though there are some seasonal caravans there that use the facilities). Most of the field is flat and dog owners seemed to clean up after their dogs.
Price: it was cheap.
Disliked Toilets: could be cleaner. I've seen much worse though at other campsites. Cleaners came Monday morning but they need to do better.
This next one is not a dislike about the site itself, but it did happen so I'm mentioning it.
Other guests: seasonal pitch guests (I assume) made Saturday night not very enjoyable at all.

Non-electric grass pitch
Liked Friendly site staff. Warm welcome on arrival.
Local pub just up the track with good prices for drinks (didn't try the food).
Well looked after site.
Reasonable check out time.
Disliked Poor water pressure in the showers, but they work and are free.
Woken up at 2am by loud conversations and kids running about (not the fault of the site I know; people suck).
Dog walk is just a track that goes nowhere.
Pub just up the hill has closed down as of the day before we arrived - still mentioned on website.
These are all minor criticisms and apart from the sweary children racing round on their ebikes and escooters looking for a fight (again not the fault of the site), we had a really nice time).

Disliked 2 showers are in two of the toilets so there are queues for the toilet if the shower is in use and the other individual toilet is being used (wasn't often). Would have been better designed to have the shower separate and would have been easy to just have a door on the other side of the cabin instead of having to walk through the toilet. Also, why have a separate male and female toilet?
Toilet block could do with a more regular deeper clean. Pee around toilet seat was there for over a day. Dead spiders and webs have been there for a while. I've seen a lot worse.
The toilet 'issues' are very minor and I'd definitely stay again.
Didn't see the owners at all.

I made a mistake with my booking on pitchup which was easily rectified on arrival. We stayed on the rally field which is well looked after and the grass is short.
Disliked Tents and caravans pitch where they like. We arrived on the Thursday and were crammed in surrounded by tents when we left on the Sunday. Only a couple of metres between our caravan and the tent that arrived on the Saturday.
There were a lot of flies in the male toilets - the female toilets were fine (I'm told).
You have to go through the washing up area to access the female toilets (no big deal but thought I'd mention it).
5 sinks - one mirror - one soap dispenser (empty in the female toilets). Flannels provided to clean the sinks yourself - the male sinks looked grubby. Not sure how often they are cleaned as we never saw them attended - maybe a record of when they are checked on the wall would be an idea?
There was a toilet brush resting in the urinal for the duration of our stay and it didn't move. Lots of old yellow crystal things in the urinal topped up with new ones (are they supposed to be removed - looked nasty anyway).
Every time I used a cubicle there were stains in the loo and loose toilet paper on the floor.
Website advertises that wifi is available but you have to pay through the nose for it. We didn't bother.
No on-site shop (that we could see).
None of the above spoiled our stay and we didn't complain about it - they were minor and it does seem a good site.

From the manager: As you stated you booked a non electric tent pitch, but turned up in a caravan, we found you a space with electric during our busy period. We are sorry you do not like tents and caravans pitching where ever they like, but some people like this system. The washing up area is separate from any of the toilets, its the laundry area that you walk through to enter the ladies toilets. Wifi is an optional extra which people can choose to purchase if they like, i can assure you these are the prices we pay, with no money made from this service. We do not say that we have a shop onsite.

Field 1 electric grass touring pitch (small)
Liked Greeted on arrival.
Friendly helpful staff.
Quiet site.
Dog friendly.
Cheap.
Disliked Drove past it trying to find it as sign faces other direction to the way we approached it.
Some road noise (can't be helped but can't be heard from inside caravan).
