Lower paddock non-electric grass tent pitch (firepit)
Liked Great ‘out of town’ location, space between pitches, divided by mown in pitches, clean facilities, sheltered stables, great views, pleasant and peaceful. Kettle and toaster was a helpful touch.
Disliked Fire pit stone placed near the middle of the pitch leaving not much room to position larger tents, could be better placed better. Three toilets and three showers, could potentially become a problem if site is full. Fridges and freezers are dated by working.

Disliked Slights slope on the tent field, toilet block is a little far from the tent field (if you’re desperate in the night)

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch
Liked The location is perfect if you’re looking to escape the hustle and bustle, you could not be much more remote. The farm is charming, and so so quiet. The owners are knowledgable and welcoming, always greeted with a smile and a hello.
The owners have put together a little book which they offer guest for a donation of £2. This book was delightful, it contains a few walks around the local area that are truly stunning, if you’re into exploring then follow their steps and away you go, you won’t be disappointed.
The facilities are in great condition, with everything you need. The en suite style bathrooms are something a lot of site should take note of. The local area is pleasant and everyone seems in a great mood.
The Fox pub is part of the farm and serves great food, it can get busy in there though so book ahead.
You have Dorchester to the West about 25 mins drive, and Blandford to the NE which are both decent towns, with supermarkets etc.
You are surrounded by lanes, which add to the countryside vibes but be prepared to pull in to some passing places along the way.
Little shop on site sells everything you could need from a local shop, all the essentials.
Overall a fantastic stay, on a very delightful farm in the middle of Dorset, if you’re happy with the simple life, then I fully recommend!!

Non-electric grass tent pitch (five person)
Liked The spectacular scenery of which this campsite is set is amazing on its own. The freedom to roam the surrounding area and the raw access that the farm has is wonderful. The pitches are basic, as are the facilities. If you are looking for the bare minimum escape then this is the place for you. We loved the access to the river/stream, and surrounding hills. The staff were all great and helpful.
Disliked The facilities are some what dated, but everything functioned as it should, and it met our needs. No thrills. Access road is ok for a car, but probably a little bit tricky for anything bigger. Supplies shops are miles away, so stock up before you arrive.

Liked Everything! The fact you can pitch where you want is amazing, it gives you the sense of really being in the wild! The showers were clean, and warm, with great pressure. Facilities as a whole were fantastically presented and did what they were designed for. The grounds are super easy to find, and there is ample space for all. Grass is well kept considering it’s agricultural land, make sure you have something other than flip flops to wander around camp as it can be quite tough on little feet. The owner is practically superwoman! From greeting guests to all the jobs around the place, doing so with a huge smile and helpful being. Really made us feel welcome and made our stay fantastic. The footpath nearby allows you access to the beautiful farm land that this camps sits. Water fresh and cold, washing up facilities hot water readily available. Galton Farm really makes camping what it should be! Great Job!
