The zesty smell of orange trees, a cool Mediterranean breeze and fantastic mountain views – how do you like the sound of that? That appealing combination can be found at Orange Beach Camp, a cosy site in an orange grove in Göynük, a village at the foot of the Taurus Mountains in Antalya. This region, which is known as the Turquoise Coast for the inviting colour of its waters, is full of exciting activities to try out, from trekking next to the mountain river in nearby Göynük canyon to hiking along the Lycian Way for sea and mountain views. The site's just 500 metres (a five-minute walk) from Göynük beach, with Kemer beach five minutes' drive away. From Kemer port (10 minutes' drive), boat trips, diving and watersports are all possible, and back on land, the town centre has restaurants, shops and a seaside promenade. Further south, it's a 25-minute drive to the ruins and coves of the ancient city of Phaselis Örenyeri. Back at Orange Beach Camp, the spacious, green grounds are peaceful and quiet, and during the season, you're welcome to pick fresh oranges straight from the trees. Secure and gated, the friendly site has an international clientele and welcomes families, groups of friends, pet owners, bikers, students and just about anyone who's looking for a relaxing break. The well-maintained facilities include toilets, clean showers with hot water and wifi. There's also a well-equipped shared kitchen and a barbecue area where you can head to cook and bike hire to help you get out and exploring pronto.

A nice, shady spot near the beach with some pitches getting sun. Lovely views, but pitches are small and a hotel can be noisy. Shower, toilet and kitchen cleanliness was a concern for some.

Local attractions

On hot days, you can walk down to the nearest beach for a dip in five minutes before wandering around Göynük's ice cream shops and bars for further refreshment. Just out of town, Göynük canyon (10 minutes' drive) is an exciting place to explore for hikes with its gorgeous green forests, waterfalls and pretty natural pools. At Göynük canyon, you can also join the Lycian Way, a spectacular long-distance trail that stretches along the coast all the way to the big city of Antalya (50 minutes' drive), where there’s an interesting archaeology museum and plenty of restaurants and shops. For other outdoor pursuits, you could try zipwires, paintball and more at EcoFun Adventure Park (10 minutes), one of the largest adventure parks in Turkey. For some family-friendly activities, you could visit Dinopark (five minutes' drive), a dinosaur-themed park with boat rides, fossil pools, a climbing wall and much more to keep the kids happy. If their little legs could do with a rest after all that scurrying about, take them up to the top of Tahtali Mountain via the Olympos Teleferik cable car (30 minutes).
