It's free, quick and easy!
- Quiet family site by the sea with easy access to a sandy beach
- A 25-minute drive from Valencia
- Big pool with slides, paddling pool, playground and snack bar
You may, just possibly, dither somewhat when it comes to deciding destinations for days out around Camping Puzol in the Valencian Community. Pack the bucket and spade first, as this quiet and family-oriented site is right by the sea with easy access to a sandy beach a mere 100 metres away, for swimming and the construction of elaborate sandcastles.
But. You'll also be only 25 minutes' drive from province capital Valencia, home of (as you of course know), the spectacular City of Arts and Science, the biggest aquarium in Europe at Oceanogràfic, flat roads for family cycling, and old buildings by the heap. And several more beaches too, so do make sure your bucket and spade accompany you when you're setting out for city days…
A friendly and family atmosphere is the vibe back at base, along with stuff to do for all ages: kids can pedal bikes contentedly around the grounds, splash in the paddling pool and zip roaringly down the main pool's dragon waterslide, or whirl around the slides, swings and climbing frame of the spacious playground.
And the grownups? They'll be taking it easy on the sun loungers, perhaps pondering which offering from the packed July and August activities and entertainment programme they fancy taking part in. Then it might be time to collect the kids to cart them off to the snack bar or to help out with the barbecue preparations, before a stroll on the beach before bed.

Local attractions
Valencia, you think? Decide now on several days in this splendid city, around its Old Town and cathedral, the City of Arts and Sciences and the Oceanogràfic aquarium (both in the same place; how handy), and the avant-garde opera house Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía. (As the kids may be allergic to this last, you should also know about the city beaches too, accessible by bus routes, tram, car, foot or bike a few minutes from Valencia's centre.)
The Camping Puzol team quite sensibly points out too that one of the most tiptop things about a visit to Valencia is trekking around its local cuisine. Paella, baked rice, rice with seafood, duck, lobster, wild mushrooms, black rice and loads more should all be easily found to sample in and around the city, so do be sure to track down the lot.
As well as guzzling all these in Valencia, a highly recommended foodie trip is around the Albufera Nature Reserve (the 'home of real paella', says the Puzol team), where you can take a boat or horse and cart trip around the wetlands or countryside before or after (or both) as much paella as you can manage.
