  • Forest site at Alquézar in the Sierra y Cañones de Guara Natural Park
  • Alquézar and the Pasarelas del Alquézar walkways five minutes’ drive
  • Guided outdoor activities and extreme sports available on site
At five minutes’ scenic drive from Alquézar in Huesca, Camping Alquézar is right in the middle of the Sierra y Cañones de Guara Natural Park. The site sits in a forest of ancient oak and olive trees; a haven of peace utterly at one with the wild nature surrounding it. Possibly the biggest USP of Camping Alquézar is its proximity to the start of the famed Pasarelas del Alquézar walkways (five minutes’ drive), which cling to the side of the River Vero gorges and have spectacular canyon views. This site is very much set up for outdoor adventures: at Alquézar Aventura, you can hire safety equipment and organise guided canyoning trips to get you started on your extreme sports activities. However, if that’s not for you, there’s also a swimming pool on site for lazy days in the sun. A roster of services ensure your Alquézar break goes seamlessly, from the supermarket and petrol station on site to the restaurant, communal barbecues and picnic areas.

Electric optional grass and earth motorhome pitch

Liked Spacious pitch with some shade. Despite other reviews I’ve seen complaining about them, we found the sanitary facilities to be very clean and were available in multiple locations throughout the site meaning no matter where you pitch, there’s always one relatively close by. Luckily for us given the temperature, the swimming pool opened whilst we were staying and we had a lovely swim, and sunbathe on the grass nearby. The little shop has a good selection of both camping related and grocery items. Fabulous location being a 15 minute walk to the beautiful village of Alquezar, and some great mtn biking straight from the site. We would definitely return here!

Local attractions

A nerve-tingling hike along the Pasarelas del Alquézar walkways (five minutes’ drive) – a network of suspended walkways and footbridges across the River Vero – will test your head for heights and introduce you to dramatic views of hilltop castles and plunging waterfalls. If you need to cool down after navigating the narrow cliffside route, have a dip in the turquoise waters of the river. If you then feel brave enough for canyoning in the Sierra y Cañones de Guara Natural Park (direct access from the pitches), site personnel will organise bespoke guided trips for you. Confident hikers can strike out for the Abrigo de Chimiachas (90 minutes’ walk), which takes you through a spectacular gorge and past Moorish-style water gardens. There are many gentler adventures to be had in the park however; it’s a scenic stroll through olive groves down to the single-span medieval stone bridge at Albarda (40 minutes’ walk), or head into Alquézar (20 minutes’ walk/five minutes’ drive) to reward yourself with coffee and ice cream in a village café. If you prefer to explore by car, make for observation points like the Mirador de la Peña Falconera (half an hour’s drive) for views over bizarre rock formations.
