  • A few kilometres from Aznalcázar and 35 minutes' drive from Seville
  • Pool, pool bar and restaurant
Stopping off for a spell on your way to or from spectacular Seville? Or seeking a countryside and pine forest base for rural Andalusian wanders, close to a spectacular national park and within easy reach by car or bike from a lively town for lively evenings? Camping Dehesa Nueva should fit your Spanish bill – and it's 45 minutes' drive from the long sandy beaches of the Costa de la Luz too. Get prepped for active adventures at the Camping Dehesa Nueva sports ground, where you can get your fitness levels on target with a spot of tennis, football and basketball. If the teenies are too tiny for any of that, there's a family-friendly pool they can splash around in instead, while post-sports grownups keep an eye on proceedings from the adjoining bar. And after that? Fuel up for your active and sightseeing days by determinedly working your way through the menu at the site restaurant, which has a mix of local cuisine from both modern and more traditional times. Disabled toilet and shower facilities are available in the amenities block.

Local attractions

This lovely land along the banks of the Guadiamar is close to the busy town of Aznalcázar, a popular starting point for the Doñana National Park and its walking and hiking trails. UNESCO-listed Doñana is one of the biggest protected wildlife areas in Spain, making up a whopping 54,300 hectares. It's a splendid spot for wildlife watching, where you can aim to spy species such as Iberian lynxes, red deer, badgers and Egyptian mongooses on the ground, and herons, kingfishers, cuckoos, raptors and – more elusively – Spanish imperial eagles in the air and around the water. Your standard must-see in the region is the world-famed city of Seville, known for its Easter processions as well as its three spectacular UNESCO World Heritage Sites of the Alcázar of Seville, Seville Cathedral and the General Archive of the Indies, telling the tale of the Spanish empire in the Americas and Philippines. Over a dozen excellent museums are in the city too, including the fab museum of fine arts as well as museums dedicated to bullfighting, the Spanish navy, pottery and Flamenco art. Coastal reserves, sandy beaches and high dunes are within about 45 minutes' drive from the site at the Costa de la Luz or Coast of Light, running alongside the Atlantic.
