- Spacious pitches in a quiet area half an hour’s drive from Bucharest
- Lacul Morii lake 10 minutes’ drive; Divertiland Park 35 minutes
- Excellent connections to Bucharest city centre; private pitches
Longing for a feeling of privacy and exclusivity, like you’re the only family on site? A stay at Camper Garden might just scratch that itch. This spot on the outskirts of Bucharest (about half an hour’s drive from the city centre) has only two touring pitches, and they are spread across 1,500 square metres of garden. So while technically there might be other guests on site, it is very unlikely that you will be under each other’s feet.
After parking your vehicle (choose between a hardstanding or a grass pitch), take a moment to soak up the peacefulness of the place. Camper Garden sits in a leafy residential area of the capital, well connected to the city centre by bus (the nearest stop is a five-minute-walk away). Bucureștii Noi station is 25 minutes’ walk away, and from there you can catch trains to places like Ploiești (an hour and a half by train), home of the lush King Michael I of Romania Park and the Clock Museum.
But there’s no need to catch a train to stay busy and entertained while here. Lacul Morii, one of the largest lakes in the city, is a 10 minutes’ drive away – or a relaxed one-hour walk through the fields and along the Dâmbovița Delta. The lake is a popular destination for fishing, strolling along the promenade and relaxing while admiring spectacular sunsets (perhaps with a beer from Anagram Brewery, which sits right on the shore). The nearby Dinamic Park has pedalo boats, inflatable slides and resident ducks.

Local attractions
Start your visit to Bucharest (half an hour’s drive) at the lush King Mihai I Park, with splendid lakeside walks, a skatepark and cherry trees in the Japanese Garden. Also here is the Dimitrie Gusti National Village Museum, which recreates a series of traditional rural dwellings. The house of former Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu is nearby.
On hot summer days, head to Divertiland Park (35 minutes) for aquatic attractions such as waterslides, a wave pool and a lazy river, plus a splash area for young children (not to mention plenty of sun loungers). Serious swimmers might be found doing laps in the olympic-size pool.
The 17th-century Orthodox monastery of Cernica (an hour and 10 minutes) stands on a small peninsula stretching into the lake of the same name. Extreme Park Phoenix Cernica, with treetop walks and ziplines, is nearby, while the Pădurea Cernica national forest stretches just to the east.
