Swims, scenic strolls and summertime fun for the small sorts – if such things are your dream hols made of, scoot to family-friendly Recreatiecentrum Adelhof, a peaceful spot in the woods just outside Vledder. The Drenthe region is famed as a green and pleasant part of the country, and this particular place is a top location from which to launch forays into the area, within easy driving distance of the Dwingelderveld and Drents-Friese Wold national parks. Take your pick from moors, forests and meadows for walks or cycle rides, set off in search of the prehistoric dolmen that lurk nearby, or simply cycle to the local villages to seek out a plate of pancakes. You may need the incentive of pancakes to entice the kids away from all the things vying for their attention on site – an all-weather tennis court, a miniature golf course, a multisports field, a playground, a bouncy castle, a climbing wall, a bowling alley, table tennis… And that’s before they’ve even dragged you next door to the swimming pool (with a paddling pool for the tinies and a waterslide for the more intrepid) or examined the range of activities at the kids’ club. Grownups have a carp fishing lake to try their luck at, and there's a café-bar on site too for drinks, coffee and snacks.

Liked De ruimte die we konden krijgen en de hoeveelheid mensen die daar waren. Ik had verteld dat ik met kinderen van afwisselende leeftijden kwam, en ze hebben de perfecte plaats voor mij geregeld. Ook was het fijn dat we korting kregen bij het zwembad, dat vonden mijn kinderen fantastisch. De natuur was ook heel mooi, ik het tientallen prachtige foto's gemaakt. Ook waren de werkgevers super gastvriendelijk.

Disliked Het enige kleine nadeel was de stroom. Je had een ander stopcontact voor de stroompaal nodig. Maar het was niet zo erg want je kon bij de receptie eentje kopen voor een hele goedkope prijs.

Liked Schöner Stellplatz, unkompliziertes Einchecken, nette Rezeption. Animation vorhanden (haben wir aber nicht genutzt).
Strom & Duschen (6 Min. Warmwasser) im Preis enthalten.

Disliked Sanitärgebäude etwas klein, kein Waschbecken bei den Toiletten.

Liked Ein gepflegter Platz mit vielen Stellplätzen. Toiletten waren sehr sauber. Das Personal an der Rezeption war sehr nett.

Liked Sehr schöne große Stellplätze auf Wiesen, Strom und Wasser nah dran. Hohe Bäume, die Schatten spenden. Spielmöglichkeiten für Kinder, Jugendliche können auf der großen Wiese Fußball und Volleyball spielen. Nettes Personal! Es gab übrigens immer Toiletten-Papier, im Gegensatz zu dem, was manche hier schreiben.

Disliked Die sanitären Anlagen sind nicht besonders schön...werden aber regelmäßig gereinigt!

Liked We liked everything, lots of space in the meadow, quiet, clean, good pool, loud birds reminded me of the Creator.

De gastvrijheid van het personeel!

Disliked Het fout aanwijzen van het rijden naar de plaats op het terrein uitgelegd door het personeel aan de receptie. De weg die ons beschreven is was onmogelijk om via daar onze staanplaats te bereiken. Wat resulteerde in een groot manoeuvre met een caravan van 8m lang

Ruimte van de sanitaire voorzieningen waren prima.
Leuke binnenspeelplek voor de kleintjes.

Disliked Elektriciteit viel vaak uit bij weinig gebruik van stroom. De wc knopjes zijn lastig in te drukken, douchekoppen zijn niet echt fijn.
Animatieteam+activiteiten viel tegen.
Misschien beter tenten en caravans meer apart.
Het winkeltje stelde echt weinig voor.

Local attractions

When you’re ready to head out and stretch your legs, ask at reception for details of walking and cycle routes, including the Linde valley trail and Uffelte Havelte routes as well as those in the Drents-Friese Wold and Dwingelderveld national parks. Should you need a bit of a break from open-air wanderings, have a look at the Miramar Maritime Museum, a few minutes’ walk from the site, or take a trip to the Planetron in Dwingeloo (20 minutes’ drive) to look through the huge telescope into the starry skies. It’s also worth taking a wander into town (15 minutes’ walk) to see the glass art at the Vledder Museum and see if you can spot the forgeries from the real pictures in the fakes section. Certainly not fakes are the prehistoric dolmen that pepper the Drenthe countryside – there are several of these ancient stone burial chambers nearby, with the nearest about a 10-minute drive away.
