Venice: home to gondolas, teeny streets, a most grand canal and the Rialto Bridge… and often pretty steep hotel prices. Have at it in a smart way with a stay at Camping Rialto, a dog-friendly site surrounded by greenery about 10 minutes' drive from mainland centre Mestre, and about 15 minutes by bus from the Venice city sights (with a handy bus stop within walking distance of the site and services running through till late evening). Buses run frequently between Venice and Mestre (including during the night), so settle down on site after a long day of Venice sightseeing. During summer only, there is a swimming pool and a pool bar open for relaxing dips punctuated with snacks and cool drinks. Later on, move on for drinks and a pizza at the bar-pizzeria-restaurant (open during high season only), which faces the prettily well-maintained garden – and then settle there again in the morning with an Italian coffee or cappuccino…

  • No naked flames are allowed inside the hired accommodation units.
  • No gas barbecues allowed.

Liked Camping à 5min à pied de l'arrêt de bus pour Venise. Magasin (Lidl) situé à 200m très pratique. Piscine agréable avec bar, restaurant.
Emplacement de taille correcte et ombragé.

Disliked Il n'y a pas de cuisine commune. Les branchements électriques sont assez éloignés des emplacements (prévoir une grande rallonge).

Liked Camping grande con muchos servicios como restaurante, supermercado y piscina. Nada más al llegar te dan un 10% de descuento para cenar en su restaurante. Plaza para nuestra autocaravana muy buena.

Disliked La suerte de tener cerca o no la toma de electricidad. No teníamos cable suficiente, no tenían en el supermercado, y tuve que gastarme 55€ en una tienda especializada de autocaravanas que hay justo enfrente

Disliked The electric cable was too far from the tent.
On the internet, it said we will pay one sum of money for the camping. But when we checked out it turned out we had to pay much more. hidden payment. You were not upfront on here.
There was wifi, but it didn't work on our tent site.
the ground was super hard, so it was nearly impossible to build a tent.

Liked Très réactif à notre demande par mail. Arrêt de bus aller/retour devant le camping pour se rendre à Venise. Vente de tickets de bus à l'accueil du camping.

Disliked Bruyant : une route à côté et des campeurs comme nous de passage. Mais, camping qui fait le job à proximité de Venise. Y aller de préférence en semaine car moins de monde au camping et à Venise.

Liked The swimming pool with bar area was really nice, with lots of sun loungers to choose from. This was very welcome after a hot day spent looking around Venice.
The ability to catch the bus right outside the campsite and be in Venice in 10 minutes.
The facilities were clean and spacious. I used the washing machine, which did the job.
There were lots of trees shading the level pitches.

Disliked The pitches were quite cramped together. Lots of biting insects.

Liked Nice site, pool was good, shower facilities nice and food lovely too

Disliked 1st night stay there was a party, music went on until 11.30pm and very loud, noise continued until gone midnight.
Cabins were very hot, no fly nets when the windows were open

Liked Die Lage des Platzes um Venedig zu besuchen. Ebenfalls das man dort auch einen schönen netten Tag am Pool verbringen kann. Das gesamte Personal war sehr nett und freundlich. Ebenfalls das Personal aus dem Restaurant. Größe der Stellplätze.

Disliked Waschhaus und Toilettenhaus sind etwas in die Jahre gekommen, aber sauber.

Local attractions

The centre of Venice is less than 10 kilometres or a 15-minute bus ride/12 minutes by train from Camping Rialto: once in town, take a vaporetto or water bus to stop off wherever you fancy, or just start a-wandering; the signs all around for Rialto and San Marco will keep you on the right track (or you could take it easy by cruising along the Grand Canal on a vaporetto…) The islands of Murano, Burano and Torcella are also popular stops on the Venice tourist trail, as is a cruise along the Riviera del Brenta to gawp at the lavishness of the villas and gardens along its route from Venice to Padova. Mestre, about 10 minutes' drive away, has plenty of shops and restaurants that are generally cheaper than those in Venice, and both Padova and Treviso are within about 20 minutes by car. Verona, Padova and Treviso are all easy to get to by train from Venice station as well.
